:( If it wasn't considered girlie like right now - I would be crying.

Broke up with my partner - asked her to leave - went to town to see my friends to cheer myself up - left my car in town - got plastered.....

Collected car following morning to find EVERY panel keyed down to the metal! Boot - bonnet front wings back wings wing mirrors doors EVERTHING!!!

I have asked my friendly garage to take it away until the insurance have sorted it cos its upsetting - my car was mint and totally original :(

I am GUTTED :(

Total base metal respray required - my insurance wont like this - and I wont like the £650 excess bill :(

Sorry to hear this mate, I can understand how you must feel but lets hope that front now on"Things can only get better"!!
Regards Andy

Who wouldn't be mate.

There are some Scum about.

yup - not nice that - and a major repair job too. Feel for you :(

Oh man, I think we all feel like crying for you! :(

Don't want to be suggesting things as I don't know your ex, but it sounds a bit too co-incidental. You don't happen to have a bunny to boil or anything?

Any chance of CCTV or anything?
Did you report it to the police, incase there were a few cars targeted?

Sorry for your 'pain'.

On a simliar stupid vandalising story...

Recently one of my girlfiriends friends heard a lot of noise outside their house, and looked out the window to see two drunken yobbos smashing car windows on every car on the street, working their way along. She called the police, only for them to knock on here door and ask if she had called the police, whilst the yobs were at the end of the road!!

Good luck getting it restored.

Sparky

So is it pure coincidence or the vengence of your ex?

I know I have made sure my car is safely in the garage before now at certain times!

Sorry to hear of your grief, hope you get it sorted to your satisfaction. Me and the Mrs will cry for you :o

I hate to say this, but what happens once you have had it resprayed?

Do you genuinely think this is going to be a one off incident and you were merely a victim of fate?

Most keyings are done by idiots that walk along the side of the vehicle and 'accidentally' gouge a grooove in the vehicle. Sometimes they attack maybe the boot or bonnet, but every panel?

I feel for you and I would be devasted. Someone out there doesn't like you.

Hopefully the offender will be caught and justice seen to be done.

Regards,
John

That really really sucks. I take it you are assuming some sort of link with the events of that day?

Without wanting to put more of a dampener on things I would agree with Glojo that I would make very certain that this is the end of this before having a full bare metal respray. Might just be too much of a temptation to the offender.

There's no excuse for keying someones car - such a waste and a gutless way of getting at somebody.

Nightmare, vey sorry to hear that. I've had two cars keyed; one was my mint Corrado in Manchester city centre, the other was my current CLK, outside my house on my drive.

Horrible feeling; lowlifes that do this are scum that should be dealt with severely ... but that is for another topic

car

Sorry to here this that is so gutting.. :( try to stay on top of it and sort it

Thats awful.

Sounds like it might be linked to events earlier that day! People who key cars tend to do one panel or all along one side. From what you say, this has been a meticulous severe attack, ensuring all panels and even the mirrors are done! doesnt sound opportunist to me, rather, planned with revenge in mind.

You could always mention to your 'ex' that if she pays up then you wont go the old bill. See what she says. If she says something like 'prove it' or 'serves you right', then she is probably guilty of criminal damage. At least if you put the legal frightners on her a bit, if it is her, she is unlikely to do it again when you have the car repaired.

Good luck

It sounds like you have had a rough couple of days :( and no its not girlie if you want to shed a tear or two on such mindless stupidity  But on the bright side whoever messed with the car did it properley and as such has done you a favour... (sort of :( )

If they did one panel or a door then if would still cost you a £3-400 to do a good job and your car could have colour matching issues as the paint fades over time, so the new panel would stick out like a sore thumb. At worst the job would need redoing in a year or so, to correct it... But now the whole car will need sorting so the paint will look as good as new and will age together from fresh...

As for could it get worse? yes the bastards could have dowsed the car in some old creosote (sp?) and that takes a whole new level of effort to fix as it will make the new paint blister randomly for months after the deed :(

Im sorry to see your going through such a rough patch. :(

Sorry to hear about that mate! Hope things work out for you, I know how it feels to have someone take a shot at your pride and joy. Someone thought it would be a good idea to break in to my car a couple of months ago. They damaged the rear door (screwdriver inbetween the door and the rear quarter light) at which point I presume the alarm went off (it was in my supposedly 'secure' underground carpark).

Anyway, to cut a long story short they took it upon themselves to cut away at almost EVERY wire under the bonnet. Cars been in for 4 weeks at MB Straford, they reckon about £6500 damage, £5000 of which is labour
Its only gonna cost me my £200 excess but I am sure my friends at Elephant will make me pay once my renewal comes up!

Anyway, like some others have said, its probably better that the whole car is getting a respray, should look like new once they are done! :D

Sorry to hear the bad news - I really feel for you mate.

EX g/fs in the past have all threatened to key my car after I had broken up with them - got a wedding this w/end and my EX (before I settled down) is going to be there so am not going to risk taking my car down...

Been there before and this is what I dont understand. If they threaten to key your car do they expect you to say "OK, you are not dumped"?

Pah, Women!

They know how much we love our pride and joy - they know that by keying our cars they will get the ultimate revenege and it will be heart breaking...

When we get cab/taxi down to function on Sun I shall get interigated "why" we did not simply drive down like we normally do...

Thank you

Thank you for all your support. - I am without my car for a minimum of three weeks. I am driving a seat until then. gutted to say the least. Yes it could be linked. no i will never make the same mistake again. yes i did cry genuinely and yes whoever did it will pay if on cctv. I really appreciate your support. I suppose worse case - there goes the bonnet chips!!! - in truth that is all that was on my car - it was mint from my father - which makes that hunk of metal very very sentimental from someone I worship with all my heart.

My mercedes isnt a mercedes - it is a living legacy that i intend to keep :(

sorry for being sentimental like this but my friends dont understand.

Thank you guys.

I think what you must be careful of is not letting this disaster rule your life. It is very easy to assume who damaged your car, but in all fairness it could be anyone.

Your ex girlfriend might be a well liked person with many friends! It could quite easily be one of these who thought they were teaching you a lesson?

If it is on CCTV, that would be brilliant, but do not leave your enquiries too long, the tapes might soon be recorded over. This is a criminal act involving thousands of pounds of damage, the Police should be actively involved trying to solve this spiteful, vindictive crime.

Good luck with the repair,
John

At least the entire car will get a complete respray and the quality of paint may even be better then OEM if the bodyshop applies more layers/lacquer (is it an MB authorised bodyshop?)

When u get ur pride and joy back just be careful where u keep her parked in future as u don’t want to give that scum another opportunity – its not my place to say this but I am convinced that ur ex g/f/ is linked to it (I cannot imagine her associates/friends doing it without her blessing as it would be no skin of their nose with the break-up).

I am certain that ur car will be restored back to normal after the bodyshop have finished with it. I hope it all goes well for you and if you can pop in regularly at the bodyshop to see how she is coming along and push them by nicely asking them to do a good job.

Probably won’t be long before u find another g/f (hopefully who will be decent) in that stunning motor of urs when back from bodyshop… ;)
