Have taken it off - it seems to be a sealed unit, but I have read other posts suggesting that you can open them up to look at the joints?
On first inspection the connectors have discloured near the top (about 2mm) and no 8 and 9 are discoloured all over. Not very scientific I know!
From what I have read the OVP does seem a candidate - problem only happens when warm etc. However when the problem first happened it would not restart for ages but when the fuel cap is off it re-starts soon after (and runs for a bit). Therefore fuel breather is playing on my mind. Also the problem started after the fuel level was run low (light not on)
I a trying to put off going to the dealership (not sure would make it anyway!) but it may be the only option
Thanks again - driving our MG ztt at the moment, but looking forward to getting back into the 280
Ordered new OVP due in tomorrow, in the meantime....Does the fuel breather line have a valve at the bottom into the tank or is it just a line in? Line does not seem to be blocked, so thinking if there is a valve that could be the culprit.
The neck of the tank has some white almost crystal like powder in patches around it. Any ideas what it might be?
Fitted new active charcoal filter tonight
Ran for an hour and restarted immediately!!
However went for a small test run and seemed OK apart from when I kicked down she hesitated a bit and didn't really get going. It may be because she hasn't had a run for a while?
Will go on a proper test on Monday and get a Bosch centre diagnosis if necessary
Thanks to everyone for their input - hopefully it is fixed
