So I started investigating the non-working rear electric window today, which has never worked since I bought the car.

When I took the door card off I was surprised to find that the connector to the window switch in the door and the main plug going to the motor assembly were disconnected. I thought this was odd but connected them up and sure enough the window worked perfectly, as did the puddle light in the rear door which also never worked before.

I put everything back together and took the car for a drive, when I got home I found I was unable to lock the car remotely. Then I noticed that the courtesy light wouldn't come on when opening the doors, and the car could not be locked from the switch on the dash either, and now none of the electric windows are working.

Could it be a fuse or do you think re-connecting the window might have upset the system somehow?

I suspect there's a fault that the previous owner had concealed by disconnecting the electrics to that door, and it has blown one or more fuses. Check the fuses, and if any are blown, replace them, but first, disconnect the door's electrics again.

Also check that the door contacts are making contact, especially on that door. Do the lights flash when locking/unlocking?

I replaced the motor on my rear door when I got the car, disturbed the door contact and it would not lock. Some cleaner adjustment sorted it.

Hi,
It will almost certainly be a faulty window motor, the rear ones also have the DCU built into them, they are common point of failure.

Thanks all for the replies.

No blown fuses, so I tried disconnecting the battery for 30 seconds and now everything is working again :D
