Car Battery / Conditioner

Surprising how a little sticker can double the price of an item! Can't understand why he sold it anyway, does he think it won't fit anything other than a Porsche?

I certainly wouldnt trust a cheap one... there was a guy who lost his complete collection of classics some time ago due to a cheapo battery charger.

the ciggie lighter ones only work if your cig lighter works with the car off... generally you just connect them to your battery with crocodile clips or hard wire them in with supplied kit.

The one I use has a detachable lead so you can leave one end attached to the battery, and then just connect via a small plastic kwick lock connector to the charger (which I hung on a wall beside where it needed to be).

I wouldn't use a cheap one - the decent ones aren't much more than £25 - £30 quid.

Mines an Oxford Optimiser as it was recommended by a load of classic car owners who didn't use their cars regularly. Works perfectly.

I would suspect Golf battery chargers work in much the same way.....

As I have a the W124 cabriolet in the garage...

My much cherished E30 325i cabriolet spends most of its time (when my sisters garage is not available) outside, where there is no mains power....

So I have recently opted for a solar trickle charger which Iv connected direct to the battery via the supplied crocodile clips....

Dont know how good these are, much debate on this forum and other sites into their effectivness, so time will tell....
