This is my first post so please forgive any mistakes.
I have problem with one of my car keys. It stopped working. Not locking/unlocking a car, no ignition lights, no engine start.
Before it’s happened I noticed that key was plying e.g. not always locking or unlocking doors. I had to be close to the car or press and hold button on the key for a longer time in order to open doors.
Now it is dead, however the red light is flashing when pressing buttons. I have changed batteries and still nothing. Don’t recall dropping key or damage it in any way.
I have spare key which is working fine.
Do I need a new key or is there a way to repair it? When spoke with few locksmiths they all saying those keys are unrepairable and that I need a new one which cost over £200 from dealer.

Any ideas?

I did already.
£120 for repair
£200 for a new key (almost the same as dealer)

How difficult is to replace coil?
After replacing coil do you need to reprogrammed the key?

If it is similar to the older plastic keys then it's not difficult if you can solder.

No programming required

Thanks for info and advice.

I might do it myself.
