Car Ramps, Your views

It seems a good idea but for the same money you could get a nice second hand single or two post ramp. A single post ramp would also take up a lot less space.
Another thing is you sometimes need to get to the top of the engine bay as well as underneath when repairing things. Easy on a proper ramp, just lower it a bit. On this one you would have to stand on a chair! Also it doesn't raise the car up very much which would make it awkward to work under.

Why in the name of common sense would anyone want a vast frame hanging about the place taking up space (what do you do when not in use: park on it??) Might be OK if you need something that can be moved fairly easily but then if that is what you need a low rise lift with the mobility option would be a far better proposition for not a great deal more.

Single and two post lifts also can be had for much the same money so really it has more than a hint of the not very well thought out contraption about it.

3/10. Could do better

Nice one. I did think of the storage problem, but I have plenty of space. It still appeals to me though. Looks a lot sturdier than the typical ramps that are available though. Downside for me is they just aint high enough.

My workshop ramps (single post) cost me £255 off fleabay. Maybe I was lucky but for £800 they are available regularly.

Hi

My advice is to find a good second hand 2 post ramp. Dont be afraid of an old one as they seem to be sturdier than the new ones. Less than a grand, 600+ should get you a good servicable one.

I wouldnt do without mine now, you need a lot of head room in your garage though so be sure before you buy.

That's one of the reasons why I found the subject ramp of interest. My garage is not high enough to install a four poster.

With care you could link the garage roof to a 4 poster so that it goes up with it, providing the garage is not built into the house, Joking aside they do take up lots of room when not in use.

Hi

When i built my garage i put in a ridge purlin to hold the roof istead of collar ties or trusses, it meant that i could put the car up into the void on the ramp.

See below, changing the oil this evening.

Nice garage, twice the height and width of mine though

I think they would be great idea for building a kitcar such as a Westfield if you are limited to space in your garage.

My dad built a frame out of timber to sit his Westfield on as he built it but that frame seems alot more versitile and take a lot more weight.

Hi

I have parked a 124 Estate and a 210 Estate in there double stacked of course. Brings a new meaning to "Double Garage":) :)
