Hi everyone,
I've an 03 W211 E500 in green black with sand coloured leather and carpets. I am beginning to believe that my kids are on some sort of mission to absolutely ruin the interior. I am not so much worried about the leather, but any thoughts on carpet care/protection.
Very much appreciate any replies/help.

How about scotchguard?
You could ask your local carpet shop for suggestions also.

Nice car you have, please post some pictures;)

I'll post some pics when I have them - just bought a Nikon D80 and it'll give me something to test it on.
Thanks for the site Nigel - looks fantastic

You should buy Black carpets for the winter/kids and keep the others for best.;)

Supagard carpet protector...
It's what the MB dealers use and can be purchased on ebay really cheaply.

Welcome to the forum!
You have a wonderful car there (completely unbiased!;) )

303 Fabric Guard

The best stuff is this:

You can get it in the U.K. from:

You will probably need 32oz to do the carpets parcel shelf boot interior and roof lining. It takes a little time to dry so be prepared for the car to be out of action for a few hours.

Dont be done by dealers trying to sell you internal protection this stuff is excellent. I used it on our my E Class sand carpets and muck just wipes off. I did my wifes Honda with it which has a black interior and with cloth seats. This car gets really mucky and a quick Dyson gets everything off it.

The other thing to get to deal with kids with dirty feet is the E Class mat that covers the transmission tunnel in the back (Transmission tunnel mat in sand). This is fantastic as most of the muck comes from kids sliding around in the back and with this just about everything is protected and easy to clean.

ALSO get the 303 Aerospace Protectant this is used by U.S. show car fanatics to treat the plastics on a car. It produces a mat finish but really enriches the colour on the sand dash of the E Class it also makes the plastics scratch resistent. I use it on the plastic door sills in the rear and on the rear heating console etc. This means muck just wipes of the plastic and they keep looking good.

With these two products your car will be far better protected than anything your dealer can do for you

It's a dream to drive althought the 5 series is quicker on B roads. But I love it. Just read a review in the German Auto Motor Sport on the E63AMG wagon (in comparison with M5) . I want one of those please! E63AMG that is.

Thanks for all the imput. Will aim to get some pics up once I cleaned and treated the beast.

For the removable bits, the way I always clean mine is at the end of winter stick them in the bath and add warm water and persil...

We had our vehicle interior treated when new, it is palma light grey and the main passenger is a long haired German Shepherd. The vehicle is now just over three years old and the interior is spotless.

Good luck with the 'solution' :)

John

Is he retired, or is somebody looking after the sheep, whilst he stay's with you?
