Caught speeding!! ,

That's why you should always keep a €20 up your ****ter. Use it as a bribe if they try and r*p* you. If you had, would have made it up to €90 with your cash ey.

What if he'd only had 60 euros in his wallet, or if the fine had been 100 euros? ;)

at least in my country that wouldn't happen and we try our best to please everyone !!

Which country would that be?

It seems to me that you weren't happy with being fined and were trying to get yourself locked up.

Portugal , I wasn't upset to be fined I was upset because they disappear and took my license and left me guessing where they were !!

Experienced a touch of jingoism heading for the Denmark ferry in Puttgarden no so long ago. In convoy with 10 or so fast moving cars, several different nationalities, all of which, save the Germans, got pulled over at the next lay-by. The green suited, gun wearing traffic cop waived his countrymen through and the rest of us got taken to a road side hut (built for purpose) to see the photographic evidence. I tried to protest and was met with a gun out of holster (probably disgusted at my poor German), not pointing at me, but in hand and very threatening.

I only had large denomination Krone and no Euros and had no choice but to leave them with the equivalent of about £300. Give them their due though, a week or so later, a letter arrived at the house in Sweden, in the middle of nowhere..., with my change and a thank you note!

If you're a French cop you know the guy driving fast in his nice car will have the statutory 90 euro's to pay the fine so they tend to give attitude in an attempt to upset you, generally, most people don't react because if you do you're owned, how do I know this :D.
If you plan to break the speed limits in France then make sure you have the correct cash on you, you're lucky they gave you 30% over the speed limit as it's normally 10%, if you're over by 20% they should be confiscating your car. I feel your pain but you should consider yourself lucky you got away with as lightly as you have.

Ah yes, the Puttgarten road. Unrestricted Autobahn from Hamburg then very slow. I suspect the Germans would be dealt with via summons as they are unable to escape the long arm of the law there, whereas furriners could do a runner. My experience of Germans is any rule of lawbreakers are not given any slack and you never argue with authority.

You seem to have completely missed the point of the exercise, which was to cause you maximum inconvenience so that you aren't so tempted to drive at speeds in excess of the posted limit while in France. And as someone else has already noted, by your description of events you seemed to be going out of your way to turn a minor traffic infraction into a spell in jail

I'm not sure whether the rest of your rant about the French wilfully refusing to speak English or offer English translations of menus was meant to be ironic or not. If it was, then it was quite funny, if not then I fear you may have a few more problems in store while in France...

I hope that you don't back down from your position and never return to France again. Do you fancy including Spain and Italy as well?

my visits to Italy , not by road , but hiring scooters to get around whilst there , were that the people , and the cops ( Caribinieri ? ) were quite nice and decent towards tourists , and pleasant to chat to - although I remember having a strange conversation with an Italian policeman who didn't speak English , but we both knew a few words of German and managed to communicate in a language that was native to neither of us :)

Ah yes... didn't cross my mind. Thanks for pointing that out.

Hi today happened the most strange thing I have seen !!! I went to Monaco and I was clocked doing 143kph on 110kph at nice toll boot !!!

Unless it was raining (110kph) the Autoroute limit is 130kph which is why you maybe got off with a €90 fine. :dk:
