It will be the RF amp that has failed in the rear of the car

I think its 400 in the link

I didn't think it used that for the remote RF, just uses the receiver in the interior light assembly.

I have exactly the same issue on my w203 04 estate. I have to hold the remote pointing at the drivers door. What fixed your problem? and how much did it cost, was it a visit to MB

Also a question on the emergency key. Should both keys be identical? I have 2 different keys, neither of which open the car. I suspect a remote has been replaced but cant understand why at least one would work. Any suggestions, is there a number or something that I can check?

Thanks

Revived this old thread.....Just discovered i have this problem too - anyone know what to do?

New batteries hasn't made any difference and problem exists with both remotes.

Can anyone help?

on the coupe the locking radio signal is recieved by an aerial in the rear screen. the infra red signal is recieved by a sensor in the drivers door handle. ergo, your radio signal is not being recieved by the rear sam.

the aerial is prone to coming un-stuck, it is under the plastic trim at the top of the rear screen, remove the trim and tell us what you see.

Is this the same ariel that receives BBC radio 1 for example?

Any of these components?

Item 10.

Very common issue too. If you press on it hard does it start working?

how good is radio reception ? if its ok more could be rear sam fault

Will have to strip a bit of trim and have a proper look when i get a chance.

Interestingly the radio reception is fine when i pull up onto my drive but, when i start in the morning its awful.

Will try pressing it to see if it gets any better.
