centre hub removal

Is there a simple way of removing the centre hub stars from my wheels - I am thinking of changing them to oakleaf MB ones but cant see how to remove them. Does it entail taking off each wheel? or do I ruin them by drilling them and then pulling them off?

You must take each wheel off if you want to save them,,use a hammer handle. No other way without damage to the wheel or cap

What Malcom said. Personally I ran a self-tapping screw into each and pulled them out with a pair of pliers, since I wasn't going to re-use them. The plain ones are pretty cheap anyway.
