Changing break pads- best place, price and brand?

Pendants can be annoying but this isn't dyslexia it's just the wrong spelling.

Fortunately most mispellings on the forum are of the homonym variety and are thus easily understood. ;) What is more annoying are folks that post asking for detailed technical solutions without actually giving any details of their car!

I think most people can avoid words that sound the the same but are spelt differently easily enough. It's the spell check that can't.

Words that sound the same but are spelt differently are homophones (same sound different spelling and different meaning) although I'll admit I had to look that up because I didn't know what a homonym (same spelling different meaning) was.

Graeme would you happen to know if the rear brake pads have sensors on them on the W205 so that a warning shows on screen when they're worn out?

The rear brakes are of the sliding caliper type and they have brake wear indicators part no A 1695401617 priced between £5 and £7 each depending on where you buy.

Thank you very much. I assume this means that the existing original brakes will have the wear indicators and I should get a warni at some point?

When purchasing new pads I will stick to the OE ones so the guys at Mercedes should know what I need.

pagid pads inc sensors.

Hi all. Just reviving this thread to quickly mention that despite 6 months having passed I still havent had any alerts from the car that the brakes are worn. Very strange considering that there was only 10% left on them 6 months ago. Can I check, do the brakes definitely have sensors on them? Is there a way to find out?

I take it that the '90% worn' info came from the Service Advisor.........?

look at the front of the caliper and you will see a gap where the brake pads sit, you should see 2 bands of copper coloured wire running across , best done with the wheel off , or on full lock and get underneath.
