Hi,

I've got a C-Class Coupe C220 CDi (53 plate, pre-facelift) and it has got the downwards pointing twin exhausts - similar to this pic

Did you manage to change the exhaust in the end?

I've got a quote for a custom fitted back box for mine for £180, am definitely tempted..

I had a 2003 C200 CDI Coupe Evo Panaromic (pre facelift) with the two straight down chrome pipes, they were just screwed on and easily removeable for cleaning (2x screws and pull hard)

Someone drove into the back of me at a roundabout causing damage to the rear bumper and the tailpipes. Having taken the car into Merc for the repairs, they replaced the exhaust with the post facelift version which was a single oval pipe straight out. I did question this, the MB tech said there was no difference between the two, the straight pipe had a lip at the top to point the fumes down, not visible unless you look close...

So yes the pipe is replaceable with a pipe from a facelift model (2004 if saloon or 2005 on the coupes). I am now looking into fitting the same exhaust from the facelift C270 CDI onto my CLK270 CDI if I can source one cheap...

He hasn't been here sine 12th April last year !!

Did just that with the twin pipe in your pic on my C270CDI. However the muffler vibration eventually cracked the solder joining the two and it began rattling. Took it off eventually. Not worth the hassle

But any straight pointing exhaust will dirty the back of the car with fumes. Be aware.
not so my friend... brought these two end pipes for £3.00, diesels have moved on these days..:wallbash:... looks better and than the original.. me thinks..
