Hi

Sorry for the lame question :o but how do I change the battery in my 02 W203 Estate key fob. Also what type of battery do I need.

Thanks

Isn't that covered in the handbook?

i think you may have to splice the fob open or is it slide it open? the handbook should tell you.

Your best bet it to pop to your nearest dealer and ask them to do it if there is one locally. They did not charge to fit them and they were less than a fiver.
Alternatively, order part number A 000 828 03 88 (1 pack containing 2 batteries, change both together) from E-bay or http://www.mercedes-benz-parts.co.uk/find/default.aspx

To fit them is fairly simple, you need to pull out the metal key.
Inside you will see a grey plastic step (cant really describe it any better than that); push and hold it in and prize the top off.

you can use the metal bit you pulled out to press the release clasp inside

The batteries are standard CR2025 batteries, available from a multitude of sources.

my dealer automatically changes the batteries at the service - I thought this was the norm - my Volvo dealer did the same...:bannana:
