Is it possible to change the fog light location from the right lens to the left. My car is a C320 CDI, W204. My car is right hand drive but I live in Germany so the wrong side is brighter. Any advice would be appreciated xixal

It is possible...in fact I'm sure the fitting, even the bulb are already in place. Find the wires and do the swap.

Would you suggest I cut the wires and re-route to the other side? Is this this what you mean?

Could you not have fog lights on both sides? you would then be ok to drive in the UK as well. I did this on several vehicles when I lived in Germany. Some cars had the bulb holder and wires in place, just part of the printed circuit was missing,I completed the circuit using conductive touch up intended to repair heated rear screens.

Woody, connecting the wires to the left lens as well as the current right lens, wouldn't this throw up an error?

I am not sure about the legality of twin fogs at the rear...it used to be like that, but then they became singular so that we were more aware of them being foglights.

I would give it a try and check, use one bulb for the UK and one bulb for Germany.

This is the problem when elderly,I presume there is now no longer a need for the hired help to walk in front of the vehicle with a red flag.
If only one fog light is required, use only one bulb at a time depending on what country you are in.;)

That would work.

Check there isn't a STAR setting to do this. The car will substitute bulbs in the event of failure, simply wiring up the other bulb could cause all sorts of problems?

On our 124 we got a LHD market bulb holder and just ran a cable across the boot. The bulb warning system does not seem to object but I can imagine a more modern car might not like it without coding

Yes.

You can set the LH / RH traffic settings in the CGW (or EIS sometimes) which causes the fog light to operate on the other side. (Using Star Diagnosis)

If only I could buy a Star system that actually does what it says and works .......

Im sure you can find a nice German independent that will do this setting for you.

I got asked to do this on a Left Hand Drive W211 that had to pass its MOT in UK and took an educated guess so I doubt its even written down anywhere on WIS/Tips

I've PM'ed you of a good source of decent clone Star machines
