If you tap "tesco castrol gtx" into google, it seems that the offer is quite a regular thing, so I suppose it's worth looking out for when you fuel up, I normally use Sainsburys/BP to get the Nectar points, so Tesco could have been doing this for a while.

Tescos have reduced Castrol semi synthetic from £12.99 (!!) to £3 a tub.

Possibly not the best oil in the world, but my trusty Vivaro is 40k over due an oilchange so I thought I'd treat it.

This is what's on offer:

Seemed cheap.

Its 15W40, so not exactly correct, but cheap.

A friend has a Master that was about 25k overdue an oil change last I knew...I'll remind him.

If your vans are racking up high mileage why not just get bypass filters fitted...never change the oil again.

I hardly ever change the oil in anything anyway, I've had the A140 for 5 years and only bothered to do it once, and that was because it was on the ramp for something else.

They all seem to keep going though, semi and fully synth keeps them alive it seems.

I have to keep the Combos on fresh oil every 10k, because apparantly it's important with those, but the other stuff just gets a top up when the light comes on.

^ Someone I know used to do that (and maybe still does), but he did knacker a few engines prematurely.

Nick, just get some bypass filter fitted, end of problem even for the Combo's. It would be an interesting exercise to see how long the oil stays good.

Just for a laugh why not have an oil analysis performed.
