Hi,
My Christmas present is a nice amber check engine light on my car.
Annoying as it is, I need your advice.
OK, car is CLS 350 2006 M272 engine, 60,000 miles. Car is driving wonderfully, and the light came on on Christmas Eve after being parked at work for few hours.
No performance issues, and the light has been constant.
I have just recently had my conductor plate changed and a full service.
Unfortunately due to the holiday period it is difficult to get the codes read, but I am suspecting balance shaft issues here.
I am aware of court case regarding this issue, and essentially would like to know if someone has or is in a similar situation.
My aim is to get the codes checked via an independent company and then if likely balance shaft then take it to Mercedes. I understand that Mercedes would contribute 70-100% of the costs here, please correct me if I'm wrong. The latter case was in USA, but presume it applies worldwide....I hope.
Your opinions and suggestions would be appreciated.
Thanks
V
