Just bought 56.05 litres of diesel at Sainsbury's
The advertised price on the hoarding is .99 per litre - actually read my receipt and the real price is .999 per litre
So is that that them selling it at 10% above the advertised price?
A job for trading standards perhaps?

I'd be very surprised to see this, not doubting your word by the way.

The petrol companies take immense care to be exactly right on this subject, it will definitely not be a deliberate ploy.

If you point it out I would expect the numpty responsible to be fired.

Your decision.

I always check the ACTUAL price on the pump. that can sometimes be different to large hoarding display at the garage entrance. Specially first thing in the mornings if they have just had a price change.

Quite .9% - maths was never my strong point.
My point is, that if they have three digits to advertise the price why don't they show it as £1.00? More accurate, but not as "cheap"

Because it's 99.9 pence, not £1.

Check the actual volume dispensed against the total cost.

Phewee, we do like to moan and rant a lot on here, don't we.

I always wonder what happens to my .2 pence when I buy just two litres at say 99.9p ?? I want my change! :D

Ask them to save them up for you and when you have enough you can get a discount mars bar or something...

I think you'll find that's 0.9% above selling price i.e just under 1%.

Therefore on a 60 litre fill up you're looking at 54p, that's certainly a mars bar ! On my CL 500 it's 72p, enough for something that costs 72p, although I can't for the life of me think of anything !

huh? Im sure the sign must have said 99.9p... they always do.. it wouldnt have said 99.0p

The cost of King Size Twix at our local Shell station. If you don't fancy one, I'll have it. Ta.

Are you sure about this? I've never seen £0.99 per litre. Round here it is always in pence and shown as 99.9p per litre.
