Gentlemen
Can you tell me please, is there a common cause of doors rattling on the CL500/2002?
I have taken the inner pannel off, and tightened the door lock striker plate, but cannot find the cause of this most annoying noise.
Help please?

Never heard of that before... Might be an idea to take the door card off and have a look

Yes, I have taken the card off and tied up or stuck up everything in there that might rattle.
I have also nocked the lock striker plates inwards so that the door pull real tight against the body.
But it still rattles like a coke bottle was left in the door.

Could it be the frameless glass? Drop the windows a touch and listen.

Yes, just a little bit, but I stopped that when I moved the door lock striker plate closer to the car centre.

Can you tell me how you managed to remove the CL door card please.
I have removed the rear stainless panel, the screw behind the SRS cover, but can't get the panel to release from the door.
Is there some screws behind the seat control panel... and if there is, how do you remove the seat control panel without damaging it. I've tried to release it but don't want to force it.

God I wish someone would author a manual for this car!

Many thanks, Will.

Hello Will Barber,

Remove all of the screws in the door end cover (stainless) plate.

Remove the one screw in the door lock (black “U” shaped plastic) protector cover.

Remove the SRS plastic cap and then remove the one screw underneath.

Remove the tweeter grill, just pull it straight out, be careful of the locking tab, they break off quite easily - then unclip the wiring loom if you wish.

Remove the one screw in the door demister vent - you will need a torch to see it, drop the screw and it will end up in the bottom of the door, new door membrane comes to mind here, unless you tape it back up.

When the door demister vent is removed, look down in to the seat module/switch and there is a clip that needs to be pushed rearward to release it from the door, then lift the switchpack out and unplug the connector multiplug.

When all the above are done, and then starting at the bottom of the door card, use a solid blunt wedge type (plastic or wood) object between the door card and the door and pry out the door card clips, moving along as each one pops out, some may break.

When all the above are done, lift the door card in an upward direction and at the same time keep the centre of the door card pushed in to release a further “L” shaped clip which retains the door card to the inner door frame – if you do break this clip, then it will rattle upon reassembly.

Regards,

Dash1
