CL55 AMG (2001) ABC red light. What can I do?

Mercedes have said they will give me 1500 off a new car.

I'll let this go for as close to that as possible, so I can at least recoup some of the most expensive motoring I've ever had ;)

Anyone who strips this, and sells the parts will probably make that back a few times over, as the electronics, interior, panels, wheels etc all go for pretty decent wedge on auction sites. Or it could be fixed up and be a stonking motor for someone with the money or patience.

Get some photos up and I might take it off your hands.

I don't think any of us are surprised at the '£9k' stealer quote...

Best to see if someone on here will buy first...plan B would be to try links below, MSL are not a breakers but Acid the owner does carry many spares and would know someone who would want it for that purpose, Dronsfields are a MB breakers and would arrange car pickup...

Mercedes Specialists - MSL Centre Ltd - Mercedes Repairs & Servicing Specialists!

Mercedes Parts UK | Mercedes Benz Parts Online | Dronsfields

sorry for this outcome, but good luck!

Cheers,
DSB.

This car is now for SALE for parts. If anyone wants it, let me know, otherwise I'll be using it as a trade in at Mercedes for something new.

Offside front strut is gone, exhaust needs replacing, and the ABC issues as well as other bits and pieces have a quote from Mercedes for 9 grand. Yes I'm completely aware this is 'stealer' prices, but even if the indie quotes were half to one third of that price it's not economical for me.

So you have a very nice interior here, all panels, dash and chassis / wheels etc etc. The car drives but It's not advised for very far, so better to have it trailered off for your own piece of mind.

I'll delete this if it breaks the rules, but would rather it goes to an enthusiast than to a scrap heap via my stealer.

2001 MERCEDES CL55 AMG AUTO SILVER | eBay

That's the original advert.

To do :

ABC - Replace and fit
engine breathers - blocked and leaking. Need new pipes
rear discs could do with replacing - pads fine
wiper blades smearing
front wheel bearings
offside front shock - dust cover gone - new strut
sun visor
front number plate plinth
mirror cracked (I never noticed this)
control arm gaiter
rear exhaust box & clamp

That's the list. A fair few things but nothing anyone with a garage and some patience could not sort.

Thanks for the help, and support!

I'm looking for a no hassle pickup, so if nothing happens here by tonight I'll ring those guys you mentioned, and then decide if it's either going on ebay as parts, or whether I'll wander down to Mercedes and see how much a C63 or A45 is going to cost me on the old monthlies.

... starting to regret ditching my E92 M3 now!

Really pleased this has been sorted, especially nice to see another forum member getting the car:bannana:

Looks like we may have arranged a deal. Hopefully this poor thing will be saved from a scrapyard.

Just to back up my honesty, here's a thread from detailingworld where I'm asking about getting her looking nice.

Good to speak to you Mark, she'll definitely be going to a good home.

I don't think it will be that hard to beat the £9k quote from MB:crazy:....but good luck, I think it will look fab when complete:thumb:, the W215 is a great car...despite its weak points.

Cheers, I've started pricing the parts up already!
