Hi all,
I'm considering having my ECU re-mapped to increase BHP, improve throttle response and give overall smoother power delivery.
I'm considering using AATechnik in Slough, does anyone know of them?
Any thoughts on this process positively or negatively will be greatly appreciated.
I've been quoted a 10-20 BHP increase and an increase in torque from 530NM to approx 555NM. Additional improvement on throttle response, especially in the low rev range and smoother overall performance.
Look forward to your thoughts everyone.
Pete

Thought you'd get more power from a remap than that.

For the cost I wouldn't bother unless was going to upgrade the SC pulleys etc.

I have to agree, the increases are so slight on a NA engine that I wonder if it's worth the hassle, cost and/or risk?

The N/A engines don't respond dramatically to chip tuning. I doubt you'd notice much difference apart from a more aggressive throttle map.

Call west-tuning, I had a 2001 E55 AMG remaped with them and he got 27bhp and 21ibft with rolling road graph.

You won't really see much from a remap on an N/A engine, unless you go down the headers and exhaust + with a remap it will be really effective!

There's not a great deal of point in getting a remap, a 'Sprintbooster' will give you the same effect. I tried it for myself on Peter's C43, and it makes the car very horny, but its noticeable, and good for when you want to give the motor a good thrashing.

Your particular engine responds very well to Kleemann headers as shown in the youtube video below. Its of a W210 E55 annihilating the BMW E39 M5. But Kleemann headers are definately not cheap...

Yours is supercharged Hibs ...

NA cars are not worth chipping , the only way to get a decent amount of more power is mechanical upgrades .

Something like a supercharger ? You could buy a Kompressor version and get 160ish extra bhp. There's a couple for sale at the moment I'm led to believe ;)

Why?

Havn't you just bought the car. Doubt you will get much noticable power out of a remap, then theres the insurance which will go up.

Maybe you should have gone for a CL55k

Thanks everyone for your comments, much appreciated. I think I'll run the car for a while and see what I think about the standard performance before I consider any alternatives.

Like what i did ;)

try it out as it is , get used to the car, find out if theres any faults that need seeing to, then if you have any money left think about tweaks :), like others have said, increase is minimal on a na engine

Most remap companies out there worth their salt remap with 14 day money back gaurantee so why not have it done by one of these and then if you like it keep it and if not have it returned to standard and get your money back......Nothing to lose......:thumb:

Hibs is SC , you are not .... much easier to increase power / torque on a SC or TC car ....
