Cleaning Alloys

It's a Caramel Wheel I believe mate.

It's a toffee wheel ;-)

P21s Wheel Gel is the best I've tried. Can be bought in bulk in Germany via ebay.

My last question is how particular are you all, 10 being excellent, I am around 5 but aim to get better with this car thanks to this thread....

I'm probably about 7-8 depending on the weather - so far this year I have not bothered to install my winter wheels so the summers are still on - hence have not had their deep clean.

What number is that Stuart??

I'm about a 9. I clean all inside and Caliper with woollens and treat my engine with aerospace 303. I'm pretty OCD. I'm about to replace a bit of interior trim as there's a mark on it.

My son in law is ocd everything has to be just right, magazines and books have to be all lined up etc.....
Everything has to be perfect......

Hi Brian, reading this thread...if you didn't want to go the full hog of taking your wheels off and cleaning them, if you have a good wheel brush (cone type that goes in between spokes) and a non acid based cleaner then you can keep your wheels at a "9" in effect. A further tip is to spray your wheel cleaner on the rim, and gently work it in with a small detailing brush, this allows you to make sure you get all the nooks and crannies. If you don't have a small detailing brush, you can pick up a small pastry brush at somewhere like Tesco for about 50p

Thanks pallasar, ordered brushes a cleaner from eBay thanks for the info, a 9 would be brilliant...... Cheers

Isopropyl Alcohol (excuse Spelling), sold in aerosol cans for about 4 quid (ebay or CPC).

Spray on, leave for a few seconds tro soften then start levering off the remnants with a plastic scraper or even a fingernail, as you're more likely to have one handy.

Rinse and Repeat (as the youngsters say) and all the crud willl come off without harming the finish.

I hear that Obus Oil also works and smells nice, but Alcohol is more appealing to me...

Thanks Paul, I will give that a try. If it doesn't work I can always drink it. Waste not want not. Also thanks to all the other members for their suggestions.

HG do sticker remover for getting the kiddies stickers off mirrors etc, I bought it in our local hardware store.

Isopropyl alcohol is cheaper from boots or your local chemist. A couple of quid for a half litre, use an old rag and it lasts for ever..

but don't even think about drinking it!!

The wheels normally get a once over with Valet Pro Citrus pre-wash and a rinse with the Karcher.

Then I just use a normal car shampoo and a microfibre mitt to actually clean the wheels. Don't usually find my wheels build up anything that, that combination won't remove.

If I need a wheel cleaner I'll opt for something like Sonus Rim Bright as its PH neutral.

My brushes came to day, cleaner due and ordered an expandable hose with a power head......

Wheels off clean with light mix of bilberry, dry with micro fibre
1 layer of Autoglym super resin polish, buff off
1 layer of poor boys wheel sealant buff off after 20 minutes.

lasts for 2 months with maintenance wash weekly with megs gold class.
