clk 200k - w208 eml light come on

hi all

i have a clk 200k, w208. now i have had the car for 2 weeks and when i got it the guy i got it from told my the eml had come on and his mechanic had cleaned the maf sensor and the light went out. now the light has come on again, is it likely to be the same problem and am i right in thinking the maf sensor is on the right hand side of the engine attached to the black 3" diameter tubing.

Cleaning the MAF does not really work. Get it on a Star to see what is going on.

well i have put it onto a diagnostic machine and it is the maf but mercedes wont give me the part number. anybody got any ideas???

What is the part number stamped on the existing MAF ?

I have just had a similar problem, fitted a new MAF, and it was not the MAF so have a 'spare' at reasonable money if you need one.

well i have had a look for a part number and nothing at all. so i have taken a few pictures to see if anyone can help me.

Fantastic pics!!

If you look at the one you have taken of the inner view, look at the resistor, the OE version does not have that resistor there. To me it looks like a toytown copy, could be wrong though but I have seen copies just like this one.
If you look at the other side of it there may be some more numbers.
If you PM your VIN to me I will check the correct one for yours and if the one I have is suitable.

You are correct franey. It is indeed a cheapo copy. If you need a MAF send me your reg number and I can get a price for a proper one.
