CLK 320 - Can't unlock boot

I have previously had no problems with the boot lock, until today. It won't unlock using any of the remote options, plip, internal boot release or key. The key turns but doesn't unlock.

I have trawled the forum via the search facility and read all the posts about similar problems. The red light inside the car on the boot release button is permanently on. Can't remember if it has always been like this. Another issue that may be related is that the indicators do not flash when car is locked but do when unlocked.

I will have a look tomorrow at getting in via the First Aid panel and releasing the rear seat to gain access to the boot.

Any advice from anyone who has experienced similar problems?

Thanks
Doug

Hi Doug

does it say the boot is unlocked on the display? mine would open using the fob but could not get it to open with the key in the end I had to get some wd40 shoot it in the barrel then wait few minutes spray some more the key finally workedin the barrel before it would turn half way and not fully until clicked hope this helps? also have you checked fuses???

Solved it

Thanks for your reply Owen, I have actually managed to get into the boot. As you say a good dose of lubricant to ease the lock internals did the trick. I have solved the issue around the indicators not flashing when locking the car.

For anyone interested, i had removed the hard plastic cover from the bottom of the boot opening in order to investigate where the water was getting in. As a result the boot light switch button was not fully closing and consequently the boot did not know if it was locked or unlocked. By manually holding the button in the closed position the central locking works as it should.

Thanks
Doug
