Hi All,

long time no post (no issues hence no posting)

So for a while now my steering has been getting slightly bad, i.e itl tramline now and then and when going over speed bumps the pasenger side dips that litle more then the driver side (also sometimes a litle clunk) the rear wheel on the same side will bounce when doing a litkle wheelspin on take off (i think this is due to a large speed bump getting hit a litle too fast on that side ) overall the steering isnt as sharp as it used to be i recemntly had it aligned, and it was "better tramline wise for a few months but is getting worse and worse and its about time i dealt with it properly.

so i have done a litle research and think the front shocks are gone/going (its just hit 60k miles) and maybe the drop links and sway bar bushes. as well as the rear shock on the same side

i have purchased the bilstein pro kit for my car, im considering the eibach anti roll bar kit, but may just continue with the standard and have the bushes chan ged out i hope all this sounds like im going in the correct direction?

regarding the antiroll bar for the CLK 209, does anyone know if the rear is easy to fit? iv read on some mercs you neeed to drop the rear sub chassis ?!?

so after doing my home work im stuck at 1 point, the spring pads, i have read the 209 only has them on the rear, after this i cant find any info on what would be the standard one for my car (it is the sports) ? has anyone got any knowledge of the correct sizes for each version of the CLk or has changed theirs and knows which were there/used ?

thanks for any help at all.

hi guys no help on this? :(. ok second questions, would it be Ok to re use the rear pads, as i will be doin gthe work on a saturday parts wont be available,is there any reall issue with that, if they are not "spent" so to speak ?

thanks

K

Karim, contact your MB for the suspension bushed/pads, they can't be that expensive.

Nothing wrong with using the old ones, but it's obviously better to renew them whilst you've got the suspension set up out. I would change them to keep everything nice and tight like it was when it left the factory.

Thanks Litcan91, would MB know which pads are on my car (or is that a dumb quesion) i do agree and the money is not the issue just getting the correct size (so its not too low and not too high), its just the issue of working out which pads, but i geus they would know right?

They would know, just supply them your reg or VIN number & they will have all the info on your car, to supply you with the correct parts needed. Hope all goes well, get some pics on here once it's done!

yes sir will do, will give them a call tommorow morning (pay day :) )

I Lowered my car earlier this year 209 cab 350 sport, I was asking the same questions, found a bit of info on the USA forums, Sports sus on my car had the 5mm pads fitted in the rear as standard to the sports sus, i fitted the eibach springs, I asked a couple dealers at the time for the info and all they do is look up your vin and order via part numbers, they say there is no size description with the part number so i bit the bullet and ordered 5mm and 9mm, my Indie changed mine to the new set of 5mm I supplied (£7 a set) and he gave me the old ones back which were ever so slightly worn on the edges, don't think that would have made any difference, but on the edge of the pads there are small bumps\raised spots which indicate what size they are, 1 bump=5mm, 2 bumps=9mm 3 bumps=13mm, if you have the sports sus I would say they are 99% 5mm, it is difficault to see or feel these bumps on the pads when they are fitted to the car, hope that helps.

Quick pics after lowering

Thanks you thefast1,

i spoke to Mercedes yesterday and collected today, as you said he had no clue of the size just part numbers, i i ordered whatever was on my car originally. turns out they are 2 bump ones (9mm?). i dont really want to go any lower at the back with the extra weight of my 15"sub/amps etc its a litle heavy and sits a litle lower then normal.

can you just confirm that the front doesnt need the rubber shims?(thats what i have read somewhere) as i also forgot to ask the dealer at the time :/.

thanks again for your time lads much appreciated.

Well there was always that 1% I could be wrong yours turning out to be 9mm as standard, should look fine with the 9mm as you say with a bit of weight in the rear it may look to low, and yes no pads for the front on our model car.

Litcan91, feels better on the road hardly any scuttle when going round quick bends at speed, I was also looking to change the front & rear ARBs but don't think I need to now as feels fine with the Spring upgrade,

Just as I've anticipated :) can't help but notice the shining calipers! What did you paint them with, brush or spray?

Ahh yes litcan91, that was my next question, might as well take the chance while the wheels are off, what did you use mate?

cheers (and thanks for the info on the front springs, i can rest assured lol)

Regular caliper paint kit with a brush, just make sure your prepare the surface well ready for painting, I used a wire brush and de-greaser soloution.

Thanks thefast1,
last question ... i hope lol.

i have just recieved the drop links (front) and have checked them against the Eibach anti roll bar, and the bolts are too large (as its Sports Susp etc), im geussing its ok to drill out the holes to fit my Drop links?

So after speaking to the supplier i may be in a hella mess.

so the Sports supension has the larger bolts for the drop links, the eibach has smaller holes.

spoke to the suplier, it may be that i need to use the standard drop links, issue is, what about the other end of the drop link where it connects to the car, the diametr of the hole will be larger no? and itl cause some sort of movement?? ugh all headache just before the install. sods law :(
