CLK problems - my car is depressing me :-(

Is that normal though? I had a Passat before, and it never did that.

It won't, the front wheels are doing the driving. On the Merc they are being pushed by drive from the rear, and therefore skip. As Olly confirmed in the post that Leigh linked, normal behaviour.

PROBLEM 1
========
I assume this is a cabrio? If so I had this issue and all it needed was for the seal to be bonded in properly all the way from the bottom and the front window aligned.

PROBLEM 2
========
as per sp!kes advice

PROBLEM 3
========
This is normal (or should i say a characteristic) on this model, expecially if you have above 17" wheels.

PROBLEM 4
========
Brake light switch most likely... about a tenner to buy

PROBLEM 5
========
Wrong bulb somewhere most likely.

PROBLEM 6
========
Get in touch with your local chips away guy.

Thanks Jay.

Just got a call from MB dealer. Seems like they've managed to fix Problem 1 & 5 (looks it was some light). Havent told me how much it's gonna cost me but will be glad to get my car back at least. Of course it wont be any fun hearing the screeching noise all the way home (Problem 2).

PROBLEM 6
========
Small cracked on the front bumper - this one is my fault, I went over a brick (might be related to PROBLEM 3). Can I get this repaired without having to replace the whole bumper?

I had my w209 for 1 week and caught it on a kerb in work where I always used to park. Tore the front lip in half. It is an AMG spoiler.
Took it to a body shop and got a quote for £1600 for a new bumper. Oh Joy.
Then took it to a guy who does plastic welding. His first quote was £100 but I wanted the back of the spoiler reinforced so he had to take the bumper off. Job done for £250 and you would never know.

Good luck....

Well MB dealer (Startford) really surprised me, they actually fixed the window pb - I couldn't believe it and charged me only 1 hour of labour.

Thanks, I'm still waiting for a call from the ChipsAway guy local to my area.

See this thread for details on how to replace number plate light on CLK

It's actually a lot easier than that. Just pop the boot open, remove four trim clips from the boot lid trim (two close to the bottom corners of the boot lid, two nearer to the hinges), then carefully pull the trim from around the boot catch and light switch. You can then bend the trim down far enough to reach up and remove the bulbs. I know, as I swapped one of mine last night. :)
