CLK rear wheel arches rust

Already been a few years on the 211 and still totally fine, nearly a year since I did the CLK. POR15 is amazing stuff when applied following the proper procedure. I masked off, got the metal lip back to clean metal, applied metal prep, 2 coats of POR15 and finished with MB stone chip paint.

This is only surface rust with a few bits of light pitting I'm talking here, not serious rust/rot really eating into the metal. The 211 looked very similar to the OP's arches although obviously you never really know until you start digging...

Hi Guys

Just a heads up purchased the car! :) requires a service, front and rear brakes need replacing, unsure whether to replace the discs so have posted a question in the forum...

If you are doing the pads, for safety and piece of mind, you may as well do the discs, they are not that extortionate on price .

If it were mine I’d do a full service, replacing every single filter with either MB or MANN (the same stuff pretty much) parts

If it’s a diesel replace the fuel filter. If it’s a petrol see when it was last done, they are not a frequent item unlike diesel.
If petrol check when spark plugs were last done.

I would change all the discs and pads, I did this on mine. Depending on condition. Use either ATE/Brembo/OEM.

Mercedes are actually very competitive on service items, I have a parts contact in Edinburgh Mercedes who can sort you out. Pm me if you need help.
Thanks

Did you knock £500 off?

Just replaced the front discs and pads which were a nightmare i have posted a question there as may potentially have a caliper problem :(

Also done an oil service including air filter

Need to sort out rust and gearbox service has not been done by previous owner

Paid just over £4000 ;)

Very good price for year and mileage.

Its the 722.9 7 speed box isn’t it? Let me know if you need the parts. I had my ATF done 30K or so ago, going to have it done next service. You need to do it every 36K on my 722.6 5 speed not sure about the 722.9 but doing it earlier can’t hurt. Make sure you remove all the old fluid including the fluid in the TC.

Post a link to the brakes thread on here.
What pads and discs did you use?

Is it a petrol?
If so, when were the spark plugs last done?

If it’s a diesel when was the fuel filter last done?

Cheers

Cheers! 55k on the clock, also rear boot is sticking the lever sticks which means I'm unable to open the boot, any ideas on how i can fix this? Used wd40 made no difference

What lever are you referring to?

Out of interest what engine is it?

Is it an automatic boot?

Its a 5 speed auto box on the clk 200

I have posted already on the brakes forum awaiting response, purchased brembo discs and ate pads

Will check the invoices but i think spark plugs were done a few year's ago

When does the fuel filter need to be replaced on these?

During serviced did an oil engine flush used tec4

I can open it from the inside, as rgere is a button to release open the boot

Not quite sure I understand.
So the boot lid opens when using the release located in the drivers door? But doesn't open when using the latch on the boot itself?

I’m not sure that’s correct. Are you sure yours is the 722.6? I thought the FL Clk had the 722.9 I’ll double check

I’d do the fuel filter now if it hasn’t been done before.

Yep correct, the lever on the boot lid sticks so i am unable to release the handle to open the boot

Definitely 5 speed

Any guide available on how to do the fuel filter on these?

On my Clk it’s under the car. You need to lift it up on a ramp or use a jack. It takes about 10 mins it’s self explanatory when you take. A look at it
