CLK W209 200K
I'd like to upgrade brakes on my CLK 200 (W209):

- I'd like to increase disc size from 288mm to 300mm
- I'd like to obtain the "Sport Package" calipers (with MB written on them)

So, the questions:

1. Will those fit with 17" Wheels (Mercedes original wheels)
2. What are the part numbers for the sport calipers?
3. Do I need anything else for the upgrade?

4. Does sport package include different brakes for rear wheels as well? If yes, what size (stock ones are 278mm)? Do rear wheels also come with calipers with MB written on them?

Thank you very much in advance!

300mm? The (front) sport pack brakes are 345mm - which can be fitted with 17" wheels.;)

Can't remember the part numbers, but they'll be on the forum somewhere.
For the front conversion, you'll need the calipers, discs and back plates.

If you do the rears too - they don't have Mercedes Benz on them.

Just found this - but I've not checked wether it's correct. See post 14...

354 mm? Really - interesting.

Because, when I browsed ATE's part catalog for CLK 200 W209, there were two front brake discs sizes - 288 and 300 mm. I assumed that 300mm must be sport package, as I could see no other reason to have two disc sizes for the same model.

@edit - on the post you reffered to, I can see that 300mm is the sports rear disc... Maybe that's that.

Now, the question is - if I upgrade just the front brake, the rear one will stay at 278mm, would that be bad for front-back brake power ratio... e.g. would I suffer from some adverse effects like wheel blocking, etc..?

@edit #2

Parts Number of C32/C55 brakes...
(1) 0024201983 FRONT CALIPER LEFT
(1) 0024202083 FRONT CALIPER RIGHT
(1) 0044209020 FRONT BRAKE PAD
(2) 2034210912 FRONT BRAKE DISC(345mm)
(1) 0044233198 REAR CALIPER LEFT
(1) 0044233298 REAR CALIPER RIGHT
(1) 0034203020 REAR BRAKE PAD
(2) 2104230812 REAR BRAKE DISC(300mm)
(4) 914140010010 REAR CALIPER SCREW

I see no back plates?

get a chassis number from a forum members car that has the sport brakes and then contact your local dealer for the back plate.

No, I still run 278 discs on the rear, and I've never had any issues with brake balance. The ABS would kick in anyway:confused:.

Good idea!

Anybody here with W209 CLK 200 with sports package?

Thx in advance!

The AMG set is larger and more powerful and mostly the pads and rotors cost exactly the same as the sports package. A sports package upgrade is so minor a variant it may not warrant the cost. The AMG package should be costed alongside the sports package.

Would AMG package fit with 17" wheels?

And, does anybody know the right AMG parts for CLK W209 200 Kompressor?

Thx!

They do fit OEM 17". The rotors, brake pads are made by Zimmerman and ATE. The rear rotors are from the R171 or W210 depending on which variant amuses you. The R171 has the drilled rear.

The front rotors are common to CLK55, C32 and C55. The calipers are C32 / C55 / CLK55. There is also a pin kit for keeping the pads in place.

Most people do only the front. I find that when I had the front and rear done it was much better than the front only. I also did the sways bars.

The BOLTS are ONE TIME SINGLE USE BOLTS and LONGER for the AMG / SPORT variant. The swap also requires new attachment BOLTS. The existing caliper bolts can not be re-used and they are too short for the larger caliper.

You can use these part numbers for cross-matching other brands.

Note:
There is no point in getting new brakes if your wheel bearings are worn. You will just wear out the brakes. Similarly applies to worn suspension bushes and link rods. Please have those checked.

Try to order along a chassis number or find a specialist who carries stock of these kits such as MBENZNL. There is also the hideously expensive CLK63 brakes which require the 18" rims.

Wow! This is a great help miro - I'll see how much will the MB services here @Stuttgart charge for getting those parts, and I'm also gonna check with Steve @MBENZNL!

The car is very new, it has only 8K kms on it. So I'm quite sure bearings are still good :)

Most of those other parts you dont need. Except for the bolts.

The CLK 63 BS AMG front and SLK 55 AMG rear 030 Performance pack brake setup is a superb upgrade, best thing i ever did. Expensive yes, but worth every penny in terms of looks and performance.

Hmm,

I just looked the parts for different VINs

One more different thing is the brake master cylinder

For CLKs bigger than 200K (e.g. CLK500), or 200K with any sport package the brake master cylinder part #s are:

A 005 430 98 01 - BRAKE MASTER CYLINDER
A 005 430 99 01 - BRAKE MASTER CYLINDER

^ this applies to e.g. CLK500, CLK 55 AMG, CLK 200 with AMG package (950), CLK 200 with sports package (952)

And, for CLK200K w/o any sport package:

A 005 430 96 01
A 005 430 97 01

Does anyone know the difference? It looks that the brake master cylinders with 98/99 numbers in VIN are used for stronger brakes with bigger brake discs, while 96/97 are used for CLKs with 288mm and 300mm brake discs.

By the way - CLK 200K with 184 HP (209.341) has 300mm front brake discs, and 290mm rear - looks like MB increased the size due to increased power of the engine.

Okay, I found the diff between the master cyliders @ATE website,

Upper one is for CLK200K w/o sport package
Lower one is for CLK200K w. AMG/sport package, CLK500, CLK55AMG, etc...

attachment.php

So, they ARE different - now, there must be a reason why Mercedes put the different one in the sports package - question is, is it really necessary? I guess not, since people here did replace the calipers/discs only?

It looks.... as though the internal diameter is increased slightly on diameter 1.

Probably to be able to drive the calipers more forcefully....

Just my 2p :thumb:

Do you think I should also order the brake cylinder with wider opening diameter along with the larger brake discs and calipers?

I mean, if MB is putting it, it wouldn't hurt I guess...

I am looking for some info on the front discs on the W208 CLK55 AMG.
I am looking for rotors for a 2000 amg and dont know where to get good front rotors. Different sites quote different sizes and what will fit and what wont..
So where and what is the best option without spending a grand?

Tudu they look a bit gay and weedy cant you get anything bigger in there?:D:D

I've started collecting bits to upgrade my Clk 320 front brakes which were only 300mm discs and one pot calipers.
I don't know the part numbers but I've bought 4 pot calipers brembo with the curved legs like amg fit? One was from a Slk350 R171 and one from an s class w220. I'll refurbish them and paint before fitting depending on seals and piston condition. They have alloy piston units each side but the cast iron centres and 4 star fasteners clamping them together. Bigger than the sport option twin pots? I've trial fitted the R171 caliper and it fits but needs upgraded 330mm discs next. I'm not sure on which discs would suit best as there seems to be two thicknesses? 28mm on the R171 and 32mm thick on the W220 which I presume will also be heaviest. As the conversion will already add weight I'm inclined to go for the lighter 28mm drilled discs? Another worry is which way around to fit the calipers as I've seen a jumbled post about fitting with the brake nipples at the bottom not top??? The calipers do have 2 smaller pistons and too larger suggesting they may push out at different rates? To me the bleed nipples should point upwards so the R171 nearside fits the clk near side. What was the upside down thinking anyone??
I still also need new hoses and was wondering about stainless braided upgrades to hopefully improve brake feel. Standard hoses are male M10 at the caliper and about 46cm long with female at the pipe connection. Both calipers can use the same hoses anyway. The calipers have loads of casting numbers i.e. Each side brembo parts and the central cast frame numbers but not sure what it's number is as a whole? Any recommendations on which discs and pads to fit?
