Hi Guys

Hoping someone will be able to help me out on this one. A friend has a CLK230K coupe, which he drives like he stole it. Sadly last night whilst coming off a roundabout bouncing on the rev limiter, the main bearing on the supercharger impeller shaft let go, impellers disintegrated and got sucked into the engine, so in summary the engine is goosed!

I want to buy the car from him and save it from the jaws of the scrapyard.

I will be sourcing a used engine and S/C, my questions are;

- Where can I obtain a workshop manual which describes the operations required to remove and refit the engine and gearbox

- Are there any electronics issues e.g. ECU, immobiliser, key programming etc when engine swapping

- Are there any special tools required for this job

- If I decide its not do-able DIY, how much should I expect to pay at a specialist

Regards

Jon

Only workshop instructions are electronic via WIS. You could subscribe for a day and download the info you need but may take a day to get to grips with the system!

Hi Jon,
not an answer to the questions but these guys in the North West are breaking some supercharged 230's. If your not confident ask an Indy for a quote to swap over.

On the back of this thread. Just a question.....

Is it possible to fit an engine from a car with a manual transmission to one with an automatic? Say I had a C230K with a manual transmission but wanted to transfer the engine to another car with an automatic for example.

Yes but you have to change the fly wheel for a drive Plate
