A question for CLS owners really.

I was cleaning out the boot and put the floor lining back in with a bit too much gusto and broke one of the two little plastic clips that are up near the rear-seat end which act as a kind of hinge. They slide into a housing on the actually boot liner itself so only fit into the two holes in the boot floor to act as a hinge.

Now I have been to three different dealers asking for this part, and in fairness to them on the exploded diagram they show me there is nothing looking anything like the part I need. I even got them to open up the car in the showroom and showed them exactly what bit I needed.

It also appears that the part is specific to the CLS as the current E-Class ones are a different shape.

The only suggestion I got was 'order the whole boot liner' which is a bit overkill.

So for now, superglue it is - but I would like to knwo if anyone actually knows the correct part number.

The next one is the leather gearknob - after only 8 months it seems to be wearing quite badly, unusual considering it is an auto too.

The dealer fitted and iPod kit several months after I bought the car and cut the leather around the COMAND by accident. They fixed this, but when it came back I noticed the gearknob was much shinier than the rest of the leather. My suspicions are then mullered that too and swapped it out for one they had kicking about.

Anyone else have rapid gearknob wear?

Thanks,

Simon

Tough luck on the clip breakage.

My gearknob is perfect after 11 months, so your suspicions could be right about the dealer?

yeah, it is not really the end of the world. The knob is annoying and I think it will need to be sorted at the service.

Mines leather and that imitation suede stuff (alcantara?) and its fine at 18k miles - if its worn already its not fit for purpose / mfac fault
