Hi, newbie here moved from Lexus gs300 since 2000 to a nice cls but one question. The car has 245 40 r18 front and rear is this correct, I thought the rears on such a car should be bigger. My local dealer has not answered my query. Does anyone know if this arrangement is correct?

Ian

There were different options available for the 18" wheel (5spoke I presume). You could either have same width all round or 275s on the rear for a higher price. So it sounds right to me, although I have never seen a car with the same width all round.

I think it will mean the car is in a lower CO2 band though and save you some tax.

I'm pretty sure that's normal ( my neighbour has a 60 reg CLS350CDI ON OEM 5 spoke 18's and the tyre sizes are all the same, again my 06 reg 350 CLS is on OEM 17's 8.5j front and rear with the same sized tyres.

Thanks guys for taking time to respond. I am sort of sure they are okay but on Tuesday my car is having some work done by Mercedes mile oak so I will ask again and post the answer. Thanks again for responding. Ian

Hi, your wheels are correct, you could however have the option of 9.5 J rear and also 19 inch rims.

The front have an offset of 28 but the rears only 18 Hope this helps

Appreciate all your comments guys and so far am enjoying the car immensely, I am looking to invest in a TDI tuning box. My research on these items has led me to this one.

Thanks again
Ian
