Seekers of splendid ostentation will soon have another option to that Phantom Coupe they've been considering, in the shape of this coachbuilt Maybach 57S with two doors and a rakish new profile.
The renderings shown here have been produced by German firm Xenatech, who are pledging to build up to 100 copies of their Maybach Coupe for sale to anyone with a big enough garage and over half a million quid in the bank.
According to reports from Germany, the new Coupe is the same length overall as the regular limo version, but the track has been widened and the roof lowered. The B-pillars have also been moved aft to make way for even longer doors.
Power will come from the standard Maybach's 612hp 6-litre twin turbo V12, which will be unmolested although at this level in the market such niceties tend to be at the whim of the individual owners.
Xenatech will build the cars at its factory in Weinsberg, which we're told is near the Maybach plant at Sindelfingen.
According to reports from Germany, M-B has been closely involved with the project with unconfirmed suggestions that Gorden Wagener, the brand design chief, has personally had a hand in the styling of the new roof sections.
