Cold engine starts...

I let mine idle for 30 seconds or so to let the oil get to all the places it should then drive off not giving it many beans for the first few miles or so. In fact i take it very easy until i see at least 60 deg on the oil temp gauge. The water temp is always up to temp way before the oil so that's worth bearing in mind.

The handbook says not to sit and let the engine warm up as it uses much more fuel and because it takes longer to warm up, it can cause more engine wear than driving off and driving gently until the engine is fully up to temp.

Thanks for that, useful info, didnt know that..:thumb:

Depends on the engine surely? if not, then why does the M112 over-rev for the 1st min or so?

im pritty sure it wont make a difference in pro longing the life of the engine.. my old c180 saw the rev limited about 10 times a day...shes still going nearing the 170k mark.

Even when it was cold?

Probably perfomance cars will be more effected than normal engines when cold..
