Hi lads i own a mercedes ml 1998, 320, 65000 mls, ive had numerous trouble with the vercle, which ive sorted myself, but this one is doing my head in.
in the past i had trouble with rough idle, when the car was at temp, it felt as if was running on 3 cylinders, etc, new plugs made no difference, the coils and the leads are ok, got a new mass, on ebay, which cured the fault, and the car was running great, for a few months,( i no it wasnt a bosch part)
the problem is now, when i start the engine from cold, the car stalls smelling very rich on fuel? also the cars showing no fault codes, when i persevre, and crank the engine numerous times getting the car warmer, the car will eventully run, its not the 02 sencers as i believe they are byepassed on start up.
i bought a original bosch mass, thinking that was the fault but its still the same?
ive checked the egr tube which was clean, and ive, cleaned the throttle valve, which was clean?
there are no leaks on the piping, is there some sort off coolent switch i should be looking for? its not the csp sensor, as it starts first time every time, i can leave the car up to 5 hours after a run the car and its fine? but leave it overnight, its the same story.
where else do i go?

Is it an E class?

How do you know the coils and leads are ok?

It is a V6 and these tend to suffer with coil and lead problmems.

Drain off the fuel rail too as it has no return and water collects in the end of it.

please dont be ignorant.

if it is the coil it will have problems starting all the time. sounds like the injection system/injectors could be faulty hereby choking the engine and not allowingthe right A/F mixture

im after help , not being talking the p...s out off, cheers.
dont mean you recycled.

Was that aimed at me?

I mis read it.

Check the fuel pressure when starting and see if it is low.

theres fuel there cos it stinks of it, thats the problem its to rich, smoke , etc,

Smoke?

It is probably unburnt fuel you can smell due to unstable combustion at start.

It need some diagnosis on a good machine that can test live data.

i understand what your saying, but is there anything else, i could try before i take it to the stealaship.

Take it to a specialist and save some cash.

It does not have to be a dealer. Any good garage with decent equipment could look at it.

thats it, ive not spent alot, wat else do i look for cos ive already done wat there going to do.

how can that effect the mixture thats the problem?
