Hi there

I own a Mercedes W211 (E200K Avantgarde Facelift (May2007) and I recently upgraded it with COMAND (Part No. A211 820 41 97 video in capable (Has the Green fakra connector - one of the late units - manufactured end of 2007).

The problem is that when going to Audio Menu, the CD option is shaded and I can not use the CD / MP3 CD

Have also tried to use Audio CD or MP3 CD and it does not recognize them.

When on the Engineering Menu I tried to enable the MP3 option but although I choose Enable MP3 it still remains disabled -

Since I have never heard of a CD disabled comand , can somebody help ???? Is it a firmware problem ?? (but it is a 2007 unit!!)
Rgds
George

P.S. Aparently DVD Video is working fine !!

I think this happens when it doesnt see a CD. I think the CD laser and DVD lasers run at different frequencies, so can fail seperately, or theres no CD inserted ! But I dont know for sure about how the laser pickups work or fail

Cheers

Richard

Hi Richard
Well this is not the case - CD option is greyed with a CD in or without a CD in the unit !!!

The funny thing is that in the hidden menu for MP3 enable it allows you to enable MP3 however when you get out it is still disabled !! It could possibly be that it does that because "it sees no CD"

It is very very frustrating I can tell you , although not big deal as I have a CD changer !!!

However I am going to still try to find out what is hapening and I thank you for taking the time to read and answer to me.

make sure you try a GENUINE CD in there - some comand units are fussy with copies and brands of CDR

Greyed Cd Option

Hi guys

The Headunit is new - It reads all Video DVDs - However it does not read CD or DVD in the audio mode and tonight I will try t get a picture to show you what I mean with CD option on the AUDIO menu Yes it is GREYED out. It is not the quality of the CDs or CDRs or music DVDs !!!!! I think the problem lies in to the fact that the Headunit thinks it hasn't got one !!!!

I am planning to go back to the MB dealer who did the retrofit !! and ofcourse I will keep you posted.

G will it read any disc at all??

Chard?

Hi Char
Thanks for taking the time and effort to take part.
I think I have seen your participation in driftings thread with regards to TV Tuner etc. where I took part as I have the same problem
http://www.mbclub.co.uk/forums/showthread.php?t=12834&page=2

If you have the time and can suggest some place to buy all the harnesses needed for the TV Tuner Please drop me a note.

I Just Needed A Ghostbuster !!!

Hi everybody
When I go home from work I just reset the Headunit. And allas !!!
The Headunit plays all CD's (Audio and MP3s) !!!!!
What it still can not play is MP3 DVDs when they are full of MP3 (i.e. 4,5GB)

Also the funny thing is the MP3 option in the Hidden Menus was now enabled without doing anything

SO ONE PROBLEM SOLVED - TWO MORE TO GO (A-TV TUNER HARNESSES AND B-THE GPS FROM TIME TO TIME SHOWS THE CAR POSITION 20-30M AWAY FROM WHERE I AM !!!

Considering MP3 music on a DVD, I'd follow the advice glojo has given several times for a W211 Comand. A search should help, I believe it is about the maximum number of files and folder structure (perhaps no folders at all, don't remember). I thought it would show at least a certain number of titles at the root folder even if the disk had more than the unit can handle.
