COMAND NTG1 W215 update disc

I've recently managed to get hold of a v14 DVD as my car's disc was missing. I did find an empty box in the car which shows verison 5. When inserting the V14 DVD, i get a message saying this version is incorrect.

After researching the net, Apparently V12 needs to be inserted for a firmware download update before the unit will accept the V14 disc.

Now i have searched high and low for V12 disc but can't seem to locate one anywhere.

Any help or advice would be appreciated.

Since V13 the NTG1 DVD for a W211 and similar would not be compatible with the C215 with NTG1 COMAND, perhaps this is your issue?

Although the NTG1 disk states not compatible with R230 SL and W215 CL it does in fact work perfectly well. Ive installed a number of them for customers.
The really odd thing is that the part number for the navigation drive in these cars is the same as that for the W211 E and W219 CLS! So why Mercedes say it is incompatible, heaven only knows!

I'm currently running V15 in my w220 command APS ntg1, with no issues.
Its not listed as being compatible but if you read about it on the benzworld forum its to do with an error at the manufactures (navteq?)
It's not that V14 wont work, it is that you need to have had V12 in there before hand for V13,14,15 to work

As soon as you do that you're good to go. If you need V12 I'll see if I still have it or whether it went on ebay a while ago. I'll ping you a PM if I have any luck

I've managed to get a genuine v12 DVD which should arrive this week.

I'll give this ago and report back...

So placed the v12 disc in the car and at first it came up saying no dvd disc in drive. I then switched it off and on, at which point the software update bar appeared. This stayed on for 20 seconds before the map displayed.

I've then tried the V14 disc and it seems to be working. Will report back if anything changes.

Interesting to hear they've dumped the update from the map disc, I assume they added it to stop all the mucking about with other discs as it was previously.

Mine went from v5 up to v13 without problem.
