Car
CLK240
4 months we bought a 2004 W209 CLK240 that had the original Factory radio fitted with the Comand system.

According to the owners manual, this also controlled the analog clock in the dash.

My problem is that now we have fitted an Alpine audio system the clock is still running one hour fast (it was Daylight saving time when we bought the car)
and it seems that there is no way to adjust it.

I realise that it will show the correct time 6 months a year, but I'd prefer the 12 month version. :)

Is there a way around this.

As far as I know this needs to be changed using STAR.

The comand controls the clock but once the command has gone you will need to get it reset on STAR otherwise the car still thinks that comand is present. Once thats done you can control the clock through the instrument panel menus

STAR is the plug-in diagnostic system for Mercs. All dealers and most indies have it.
Ah...would that be the same as an OBDII code reader ?
My turn to be dense....why change Comand?

Tony.
Easy answer.... because this is 'her' car - I bought it... but it's hers! I get to drive the 230E - and she wanted a high end Alpine.
(she paid for the Alpine though:))

Wait until 11:55am, disconnect the battery and re-attach it at 12:00. The clock defaults to 12:00 and your clock will be correct.

Leave it as it is.
At least she will be on time during the summer.

Oooh I like easy fix's.... so long as the computer doesn't get upset with the disconnection

It wont, I had to do it every 6 months on my W209 as I had it programmed to 'COMAND ENABLED' so I lost the clock function.

You will need to reset the windows and various settings again tho.

Seeing as my local service man charges $100 aud to hook up his laptop -which I assume is the STAR system- I'll go for the cheap option :)

Many thanks to all.

Roger.
