Now I guess many of you will know where I am going with this...

Aside from the obvious concerns of spending money on the bay, I was curious as to whether a Comand (having a suitable part number) from Mainland Europe would work in the UK.

Any clues?

AFAIK it'll be fine. If it were from the USA or Asia then it'd be a different story!

Please wait for the experts to back me up! :D (or shoot me down...)

I was thinking things like the AM/FM frequency spacings may be a bit tricky...
That's pretty much it: USA and Asia have different frequency bands and spacings but AFAIK Europe is all the same.

Someone like Alfie needs to reply to this thread :)

Shude is absolutely correct.

Buying a European comand will work fine in the UK.

Baron - am thinking of doing the same for my W203 on Alfie's advice. See you on fleabay sometime soon??

:bannana:

Already there Mike!

Found two options - been in touch with the UK vendor and frankly feel safer about buying from Lithuania

Does Paypal cover non delivery from foreign sellers?

Well:When you report a non recived itemto paypal, the seller has to prove that it has been sended. If he has that but you did not recive, than he has to ask the company hi send it with to prove that the item was recived and signed for.

I think I would go with the postage option that allows tracking.

One thing though, who would pay any duty if the package were intercepted by Customs....

Euromerc does the w203 command for £499 brand new, why risk buying from a private buyer on a use unit?

Since Lithuania is now part of the EU there are no customs charges on shipments from there apparently.

No customes for items from EU. VAT is something different( claimable in UK ) . Like Alfie said:)

Well, I wasn't reading the thread, but MOST Lithuanian parts ARE from UK, US And Germany (they just grab em for peanuts and transport back to the happy place, where make one car out of three, and the rest goes as spares or repairs)

70% of the cars purchased in lithuania, or from lithuania has the odometer rolled back, cars might have some problems, etc... I wouldn't really bothered with buying ANYTHING from Lithuanians (Apart from cigarettes, as a neighbor country, and sometimes food)

As I know, how and what they can do with cars.

I got a unit from lithuania for my C270 facelift model and a friend of mine fitted it then it was put through Star to connect things up.I was very pleased all round and the service from Lithuania was first class, unit was like new and got here very quickly.can fully recommend doing this mod.
Wont need it on this one as command is in allready, but might put Bi-xenon lamps on later.
