Comand Video input

I fitted a comand unit to my 05 CLK earlier this year. It has the green Fakra connector on the back which I believe is for video input.

This week I got a new HTC touchpro2 phone so thought I would be smart and order the usb to video(RCA) cable so that I could see the phone on my comand screen. The phone works OK when connected to a TV so I pulled the comand unit out and connected the yellow RCA to the green fakra.

Result - nothing. I was really annoyed.

Should this have worked?
Would the comand need to be programmed for an input - it didn't when I hooked up the Cd changer but that was on the MOST bus.
Is my only option now for a dension gateway?

What is the protocol for the green fakra input. Has anyone got anything connected to this?

It is a CLK comand unit so there is no access to the engineering menu - as far as I am aware.

Many Thanks.....

The Green fakra takes composite video input. However, you will almost certainly need to have the AGW coded inside the comand to think there is TV present. I did this on my A class and hey presto the TV started working after I'd fitted all the hardware of course.

There is an engineering mode on the CLK but it wont allow you to enable TV or do anything very fancy at all!

Thanks Alfie.

Looks like I'll have to decide whether it's worth it or not.

My original idea was to use the phone as an MP3 player through the AUX port.
Would I be correct in assuming that if AUX was playing and VIDEO is then selected then the AUX sound would turn off?
I have also thought about getting a bluetooth ODB2 transmitter so that I could monitor some engne sensors from the Comand display. I would presume that lack of video-in-motion would turn the display off over 5mph or so?

This could get very expensive very quickly with not much gain - but at least all my buttons would do something...

So assuming TV is enabled in the Comand unit :thumb:, is any other hardware required to get a video feed to the display (other than the correct composit cable)?

So long as you send a composite signal down the cable then no it should just work.

You can buy ir on ebay
