Command update disc

Anyone got W211 589 06 22 00 and W220 589 04 22 00 update discs for an E320 '04 that they'd care to share, I will return them and pay your postage costs, thanks.

It won't work if your alreaday have a newer version of the s/w - i.e Rel 15/130 build 51/05 or Rel 21/090 build 30/06.

Andy,

This is the latest s/w disk for the Comand head unit - it will display ETA on the front screen. I believe it should be installed foc by the MB dealer. However, in my experience, they dont. You can buy the disk for about £12 and install it yourself in a few minutes.

I am not very 'with it' today, but if you are talking about the very latest disc that allows us to have the ETA on the front screen, then my advice is please do not install this until you have resolved all the other issues. The 'patch' CD is not an official service item, it merely adds a few bells and whistles to the updated systems. I am concerned that if you install this onto a system that might not have the earlier official TSB upgrades, it might cause expensive problems.

There is a TSB regarding unofficial dabbling with the Engineers Menu. Mercedes-Benz has instructed dealers to charge for any repairs, resetting etc. Be warned and please give it serious thought.

If there is ANYTHING I can do to assist then please give me a shout.

Can you get access to a CD or DVD that plays Mp3's on a 211 COMAND. If you can then that is the first option. I can help if needs be.

Have you got TMC?

If not then DEFINITELY do NOT install the patch.

TMC should be working because it only needs the correct mapping DVD to activate this option.

Thanks Steve, Yes I had a few PM's from folks. My Head Unit shows 15/2004, so I believe that 589 06 22 00 should give me the MP3 facility, I'm still waiting on a mate to make me a MP3 disc! and I don't know what 589 04 22 00 corrects but it came out in my car's early days so I'll use it also.

As not all Main Dealers appear to do these updates, where do we keep a check on whats happening, I know I'd be lost with out this forum!

I have an 06 CLS with factory fit comand.
From engineering mode, The head unit is SW 48/2004.
I beilieve I need update disk W211 589 13 22 00 to get ETA on screen. Could I get a Download of that from anyone please?

My sat nav is running V5 Map. I have V7, but it will not install. Does the nav need an update too?

I read that after installing W211 589 13 22 00, you have to enter destinations whilst stationary into the nav. Is there a patch disk for this, or is it a dealer fix.

I have tried to get my dealer to help, but the SM hasnt got a clue bless him.

Thats the 2nd time i've heard that this week, but i've also seen V7 upgrade from V5 without the ETA patch work.

Are you running V5 or V5.1 map ?

The software updates for the nav processor are normally on the nav disk, although occasionally they issue s/w updates seperately.

There is W220 589 04 22 00 as an update from March 06 for the nav processor - so perhaps your car does need this first.

Where are you ? I have the disks (but won't copy / send out - sorry, I need them here, and I dont copy (c) software) - happy to meet and try the nav processor upgrade, then the V7 and the head unit upgrade and work out what the requirements are for V7 to work.

Just a silly question, theres a load of knock off but good looking copies of the map disks (at >£250 a piece from the dealer its not too surprising) - just make sure you haven't been done with a DVD copy - the shiny side of the disk should not be a funny colour.

Its a software setting programmable with Star Diagnosis (i.e dealer / indie-with-star) - its for the Dutch market where thats the law. Again, it seems that that doesnt always happen after an upgrade also.

Excellent advice Richard but I am sorely tempted to post a copy of the TSB regarding instructions by Mercedes-Benz to dealers warning them about folks mucking about with the Engineers Menu.

There are definite issues with version 5 and when I complained about mine, it was replaced straight away. Again there is a TSB about this.

Did I do something wrong with the disc I made or do you think the head unit needs updating?

If an electrical item doesn't work, the first thing I would check is the fuse.

Until your sure the CD works on a COMAND from a 211 then any advice is plucking at straws.

The most common cause of CD\DVD's not playing is 'operator error'. I have had people protesting how the Cd was working perfectly, they were computer wizard's and knew how to copt files onto a disc. They swore there was something wrong with the COMAND but eventually they admitted that the CD was only ever tested on a hi-fi system and yup, they had over complicated the transferring of files onto the CD. A lot of knowledge is sometimes a hindrance.

If that car of yours has been regularly serviced by the main dealer then I would be amazed if it has not been updated to play Mp3's.

So many ways to burn a disk and so many different quality drives and disks to choose from, the headunit is more fussy with disks than my wife is with clothes.

If your car is MP3 enabled then its trial and error.

I've made three MP3 discs now using Nero and Windows Media player, and still no joy, so I think if I want to continue down this road I may just try and order the updates from my dealer.

Have you tried these disc's in another E-class? Are you certain they will work in another car? I'm sure they work perfectly on your computer or hi-fi but they might not work on a COMAND?

My offer stands regarding posting me the CD.

Most talk on this thread is about the system fitted to the E-class (model S\W211 series) and that is a different type to what you have. Hopefully folks with a similar system will be along shorftly to help out.
