Condensation???? 300SE W126

Hi Henry D, thanks for that and it's pretty much what I was thinking only my new tube may have to be feathered on the in-let side as it's looking like an insertion job rather than over.
It's without doubt one of those 'have to be in the right frame of mind' jobs to do.

Cheers

It's going to be a fiddly job but good luck with it.

So head liner down now and it's only three of the drains rusted off! what I have noticed as well is that the seal all along the cartidge where the bolts are is all wet as if it's been leaking there?
If I undo all the bolts around the edge will the whole thing just drop down? or are the anchor points else where?

Only drivers seat left in the car, so plenty of room!

Cheers

I got as far as you and decided I couldnt be bothered, my drainage holes were just about patch-able. Bt, from everything I read and saw, its just those bolts and the lot comes down. I read that the whole thing fits out of one of the rear doors. That seal I would definitely replace if you are going to take it out. Leaks there arent common but its definitely a replacement item once you are there, and maybe it is leaking.

What a pain in the proverbial. At least you know where the water was coming from though.

Be careful of sharp edges on the cartridge. Good idea to wear gardening gloves or something.

Thanks for that, the three rusted drains are just 'stumps' so no option of patching.
Roof drive cable, does it just pull out?
Would the cartridge seal be available from MB dealer you think? best get one of them up front and some thin wall steel tube to weld in.
Will have to get another pair of hands on the day.
If it weigh's owt like the passenger seat!! not even electric! and weigh's about twice as much as the XJS electric seats I have as replacements in the TVR (something else in bloody bits!)

Cheers

Need to disconnect cable at motor end first IIRC. Then the fastening on the sunroof panel and pull cable out towards front of car.
Yeah the seats are bizarrely heavy aren't they. I expect two people needed for the cartridge dropping.
I wouldn't trust rubber seals from anywhere but MB. Expensive but you get what you pay for with it. Should still be available.

Right guy's good news and bad news! good news I made some replacent drain ends and Sikaflexed them in place, looks dry so far.
Bad new is, **** for brains here had decided to use some insulating tape to stop water getting past the sunroof whilst sorting it!
Whipped it off this morning and taken strips of clear coat off the paint on the sunroof and surrounding roof!!!
Anyone know a good auto painter Keighley/Ilkley way!!!!!!

Lambo, lip out!!!

Yeh, that's why I posted it!

Had a painter look at her today, said it can't have been keyed up very well when it's been painted before! fair enough didn't think for a second it would have been what MB nailed on originally! still a bugger though!!

Well, the old girl would apear to be dry now! hope.
Had her to the paint shop twice! didn't do an acceptable job first time so had to take her back, perfect now so why not first time???? apathy?
What a relaxing way to travel home after a hard day these cars are.
