c200 se limited edition125
Hi everyone
could anyone please help me? I have a 61 c200 exec cdi 125 edition. Ive tried to connect my samsung s5 to the command online but the car wont recognise it, im wanting to connect with it so i can keep the system up to date (sat nav and such) Ive been in touch with the dealer and they told me that i dont need to connect the phone to update the sat nav because they do it when its serviced. Booked it in for the service a couple of week later with first mot and asked about the sat nav and was told nope you dont get it free with the services after 3 years so then i asked how to connect the phone so i can do it myself ggggrrrrrrr no one seemed to know!! then the service manager told me i had to download Blue Dun to my phone to be able to connect, I did and nothing gggggrrrrr

hes told me to leave my phone with them when they service it hahahahaha ye ok, does anyone know how i can sort this or any tips for when i take the car in?

also a couple more questions, is there away of making the dvd player work while driving?
ive tried to load music onto the hard drive but failed, ive tried real cds, pen drives, my phone, the ipad and nothing. Ive converted the files on my laptop into mp3 format using a converter i downloaded off the net but still nothing ggggrrrr

anyone???

many thanks

How old is your car? If it is less than 3 years then MB will update the maps for free. The latest maps are v10 2014. It will take up to a day to do it. It may suit the dealer to tie an update in with a service but the update is a stand alone feature. Read you handbook. Email MB to confirm this and stay one step ahead of the dealer. There is nothing you can update yourself. Video in motion is not possible. Your phone will connect with BlueDUN but once you achieve this the disappointment sets in because it is so slow. Reading the COMAND handbook explains Music Register loading, not particularly intuitive but possible.

For the avoidance of doubt, the 3 year update service only applies to COMAND and not to the Becker Map Pilot plug-in system

hi chrisdean its a 61 plate they are keeping the car for 2 days to do the service, mot and update, the service manager tells me it takes 3 hours to update the system not that im bothered because they will have it for 2 days anyway. you say there is nothing i can update myself? ive been told i can update the satnav via the phone being tethered to the car. ive read the book a couple of times but still cant put music on the hd when i plug anything into it i go scroll through the systems menus and when i reach the part where it says something like add to music register the option isnt available.

how do i check what update i have?

richard are you saying that they wont update my sat nav?

I don't know if your car has COMAND (optional-extra built in navigation system) or Audio-20 with Becker-Map-Pilot (the one where the nav box plugs in in the glovebox).

The pre-wire for B-M-P is standard on UK cars and the B-M-P is then purchased by the owner (£500 from MB parts, less on Amazon) and plugged into the connector/cradle in the glovebox.

If it has COMAND you get free map updates. If it has Becker you do not.

COMAND has a SD card slot on it. About 90% sure that Audio-20 does not.

hi richard the car has the full command system and ye it has a sd card slot

Put mp3's on a usb stick or drive and pop it into the armrest usb socket. Select music register on the head unit then select music register on bottom left corner of the screen. Choose option to import mp3's and it will read the stick/drive. Tick the stuff you want to import and that's about it. Options on the Navi screen will identify the software version and there's nothing that you can update yourself.

chrisdean ive done all that but it still wont work, have you done this to yours? if so where do you get your mp3 music from? im thinking the converter cant of worked even though in the properties it says mp3 format lol

ive bought the full version of blue dun and looked up the trouble shoot pages. i had to disconnect my phone from the car then go through some simple step to reconnect via blue dun and now it works :-)

strange how merc say i can update the satnav, ridiculous that i cant

I've got mp3's converted from CD's via itunes, downloads, thousands of them from all over. Are you able to play anything from a USB stick? If you can then I can't see why you are unable to upload anything. It does take a while reading sticks and longer uploading them but if they are in a supported format (check the manual) it should work. Remember to highlight "Music Register" in the bottom left corner of music register screen to bring up the options menu.
The bluedun experience is disappointing, are you finding that it wasn't worth the effort?

I have i tunes on my i phone 5, i then connect my phone to the command and select BT audio and listen to music like that :thumb:

Yes chrisdean i can play the usb drive on my comp but not on in the car gggrrrr. When i plug it in the music register doesnt highlight
Ye the blue dun is a disapointment i only paid for it because the garage told me i needed it to update the satnav

Jjamg i dont have a crapphone sorry iphone haha thats how i listen to my music too if i dont have the radio on but i want to store my music on the car. BT drains the phone battery and i dont want it on charge all the time
