Cooling seats in CLS

I bought a 2010 CLS Grand edition this week from a main dealer, and it has cooling seats. I have not had a car with cooling seats before so was quite excited to try them out....Turned them on today for the 1st time as it was quite warm and the seats are black. I must admit however that I could not feel any real cooling power coming from them. I had them on full power (3 bars), but not felt any real cooling during the 40 mins drive that I took.

Am I doing any something wrong, or should I give the dealer an ear bashing for not checking if they were working before supplying to me?

Cheers

Steve

my cls cooling seats don't feel that cold either, heating option works a treat though....

The cooling seat is not that good on my either.

I had cooling seats on a W211 and they were pretty useless to be honest.

They are not cooled as such just mini fans drawing hot air away. If you put shorts on should just notice something. It's not a option worth buying though.

It's meant for stopping a clammy back on long journeys not actual cooling when hot as DSLiverpool says.

Have to say I've never had that problem on any car with leather and climate but fabric seats can get uncomfortable.

I had cooling seats in my old E Class and also thought that they were faulty until i found out that they drew heat away rather then blew cold air in.

I believe some other cars, Lexus GS springs to mind, have cooling seats that blow cold air.

Don't have cooled seats in my current cars, but in this great british summer we are having I am glad I have heated seats.

They are called ventilated seats not cooling seats. It's exactly as DSLiverpool says.

I too was disappointed with them at first. I've now found that by setting the temperature in the back of the car very low I get more of a feeling that the seats are providing some extra cooling. Perhaps it's just a perception. And of course not much fun for rear seat passengers if you have any!

In a W212 they are described as air conditioned front seats. I wonder if the later ones are more effective?

In a short answer - YES.

Especially in this hot weather - I miss the seats I had in the W212, and a black interior is not the best either. But the cooling seats in the W212 were just great - they blew cold air out and could make your back feel quite chilly...

my 7 series had them. pretty much the same. you noticed them when just wearing a tshirt i guess.

good for long journeys i found in the summer
