Don't know if this is going to help the discussion or confuse it...
I have a 2005 W211 with active bi-xenon's with the horizontal shift cornering facility.
I do notice the movement, particularly when at a T-junction in a built-up street (i.e. a big brick wall in front of you). You can see the two kerb-flicks move apart when you set off on the turn, and then come closer together again as you straighten up.
Also, I would guess that 'active' also relates to more than just the auto levelling facility. I don't know if anyone else has noticed this, but I can sometimes see my light pattern move vertically when approaching the back of a van for example. Does the lamp pattern raise and lower according to speed? It seems to, because I can see it dropping the 'horizon' slightly as I come to a halt (behind the afore-mentioned van). And no, it's nothing to do with the nose of the car dipping under braking - you can distinctly see the horizon drop in a series of very small steps.
Any thoughts?
