corroded rear subframe warranty

...I can remember another car manufacture who had major corrosion issues in the 1970s and pulled out from the UK market.

Lancia did, then came back briefly with a 10 year anti rust warranty, but then pulled out again never to return.

Once MB are forced by 'somebody' to do something they will do nothing. My 2006 MB is one of 750000 that had a worldwide safety recall for the sunroof, yes a sunroof that has been stuck in place for the last 16 years and 150K miles.

The reason for the recall (as far as I can ascertain) is that one flew off a car in the USA and after checks some others were found to be loose . They recalled 750000 cars (yours might be on the list)

The key word(s) here ..? ..U S A . If one W204 C class sub frame collapses and causes an accident in the USA something might be done. Add to that the randomness of the failures , - although I am convinced MB know which cars are affected- it will be hard to get any real action.

My 2013 E250 with only 67000miles failed MOT due to subframe corrosion. After inspectiion the Mercedes dealer consulted Mercedes and agreed to replace the subframe under warranty. But they insisted on a pre-authorised £250 for any work (or parts replacement) “THEY” feel needed during the process of replacing the subframe - ie they go ahead and spend without consulting me up to £250 . They now called me to ask me to pay for £29.28for 4 sets of bolts and nuts !!!. Few years ago we had a similar issue with our C280, and it was replaced all free.

I feel it is a cheek to ask me to pay for the bolts and nuts replacing the subframe.

Has anyone experienced this similarly?

Yes, they do that, charge you for the bolts. MB do not include new bolts with the goodwill warranty repair, and the dealer rightly does not want to re-use the old bolts.

I suggest that you also ask them to check the condition of the bushes and the brake lines and let you know if they need replacing, because it will be cheaper to do that now.

At the end of the day, it's an 11 years old car, and you got the bulk of the work covered under goodwill warranty, so it's a good result.
