Crank sensor

If I were buying another V6 or V8, I'd change it asap if the previous owner was unaware of of it being replaced.

Id rather be safe than sorry. I've had it go on my previous V6 and there is no warning when it happens and if it goes on you in full flight, it can be very dangerous and frightening......try steering a Merc with a loss of power steering and possibly also one shot at braking with what's left in the servo :eek::eek:
Anyone who has owned a early Vectra will probably be familiar with this situation - idle valves used to get clogged with oil from the breather pipes, so the car would frequently stall on slip roads. Resulting in a big heave on the wheel being needed as you hit the cuve at the end of the slip road, if you were quick and still had enough momentum you could drop a gear and bump start the car, or grab the keys and start it whilst still rolling.

Not sure if this is the same fault but the engine turned over and wouldn't start on my 3800 mile 320CDi CLK the other day. Turned the key off and tried again and it did start but the engine management warning light was on! This is the part the dealer said they replaced under warranty though. Odd that the engine management light was on for two days then went out although apart from the one non-starting incident there wasn't any other problems! Are the V6 CDi's also partial to this issue?
