As above... strange. Worked fine before and set up as pictured.

What’s gone wrong?

To add. After 2 mins it goes into standby mode ie flashing power light. That leads me to think it isnt detecting the battery for some reason.

Have you tried other earthing points and tested the charger on a different vehicle?

Black clamp is in wrong place.

Should be on that brass lug at the other side of the strut.

Brass lug? Pictured is where I had it clamped before and it worked. What am I missing?

The brass pillar with the castellated top is the official MB recommended earth return. Other points may be marginal in terms of earth return resistance meaning a greater voltage drop across it to the battery negative terminal- this may enough to throw the Ctek Circuitry. would do no harm to give that brass pillar a bit of a rub with fine emerybefore using it either!

Putting it on the brass lug shouldn’t make any difference - it’s just the ‘proper’ place.
You need to try it on another battery to determine if it is faulty or not.

Thanks. Without having tried it on another battery and the fact that it still doesn’t detect after having tried the ‘proper place’ leads me to think the charger is faulty?

And as Grober says, shouldn’t go on the battery negative as there is a low value resistor in the intelligent battery unit between negative terminal and earth, though I’ve never worked out why you ahouldn’t use the neg battery terminal.

Test the charge leads for continuity. Test the battery voltage with a meter across the correct terminals

Steel wool do the trick? Thats all i have now! [emoji3]

That will be fine just wipe any dust residue away after. DO NOT USE ON THE POSITIVE TERMINAL OBVIOUSLY!

Think the charger is faulty. Tried on another car. Same result.

No green powerlight on in that last picture? A bad battery connection should show up with a red light upper left with the exclamation symbol above the green light.

There is a green light. Didn’t show in the pic. Then went into standby after 2 mins. Flashing green. Not ‘error’ lights at all hence my suspicion no battery detected.
