Ctex charger not detecting battery?

You didn't short or reverse connection polarity of the battery leads at any point did you? This chamber of horrors video reveals the innards of an old Ctek which appeared to have an internal fuse and some zener diodes at the low voltage output end which I suspect may be something to do with shorting and reverse polarity protection. You might just have blown something??

Thank you. I i literally used it once. Worked fine. Put it away. Took it out this morning and this happened. Its brand new.

Hi,
Stupid question, but someone has to ask it........ does the battery you are charging / topping up have at least 8 volts in it. If it does not, the CTEK will just sit there and look at you. I know I would be wanting to stick a meter across it to test it and then open it up, but that is just me !
However, if it so so new, and still under guarantee then send it back.

Steve.

Not sure re voltage but there should be a light even at stage 1?

Hi,
Does the car presently start on the key ? are the headlights nice and bright, if so, there is enough voltage to start the charging process.

Steve

Well young man, post it back for a replacement. Another one bites the dust. ( I would still like to to take it to bits !! LOL )
Take care .

Steve

I assume you are not using the CTEK comfort 2.5m extension lead.

I had an issue where my CTEK did not like me using the comfort extension lead. So i ended up extending the wiring from the plug side and it worked fine after that.

Hi. No extension. Just what came in the box. Worked fine but one time only.

Ok, and I note you are not getting an error lamp as well.

You might as well return it for inspection and replacement. They do come with a 5 year guarantee, so all good.

Yes. Thanks. I got it from Amazon. Does the 5 year still apply?

It should do, you need to contact the seller.

I bought mine from eBay and I had to replace mine after a few months. I got in touch with the eBay seller, sent my unit (only) back he sent me a brand new fully boxed unit, so I had extra parts free :D

Amazon are usually quite good. How long ago did you purchase it? Either call them or go on live chat, they should resolve it

Mid December. Yes they are great.

Only 2 weeks old then, they will replace it no problem

Could be a bad batch or just a bad one, mine has lasted so far for a couple of years. These things happen, get it replaced and forget about it
