Custom E55 exhaust System

but what about the bolts and springs?

why are they needed?

Right the bolt and springs are a system to keep the collectors and pipes together , it's bit of a **** system as they don't do the best job , but saying that these are long tube headers and needed a lot of work to fit as you cannot fit them in 1.

The best headers to get will be kleemann which I have had before but the long tube headers are good to get a bit more bhp out of them.

It sound like a monster there are no cats at all and I am running 3" pipes which is the biggest I have ever ran on the car.

what do the plugs and bits and pieces attached to the exhaust do?

I will need to modify the headers again as the sensors are very low and can easily come off .

It all looks untidy lol

Lucky this is a car to test products on. So I can give you all feed back and advise for any future mods that you need to do.

aren't they supposed to be welded?

No they are not , I want to weld them up but not sure if I can fit them in without taking the engine out ???? Plus if i don't want to mess them up. !

Looks Great

hey Acid, that exhaust and headers look very nice, cant wait to hear it! :thumb:

Nice piece of work, but at the risk of making myself very unpopular, I would strongly suggest you passivate those welds, they will continue to corrode just like a carbon steel system resulting in pin holes or worse. The advantage of going stainless will be lost if you don't.

Were they using pure Argon shielding gas, and did they purge the system of oxygen inside when welding do you know?

Bargain mate, will that fit my c55? Olly has a C63 AMG LSD, we might try and see if that fits my c55.

To be honest since I've had my H&R coilovers on the car I’ve noticed allot better grip when launching the car....

btw, where did you go to do that 0-60 run? i'd deffo be up for it.
