Having just bought a 2003 clk55, with full Mercedes service history, I wanted someone to explain a couple of the abbreviations from the the diagnosis assistance system printout, which indicated a couple of 'f's, which I assume are fails. I phoned my nearest garage, Brooklands, they referred me to Head Office, they referred me to the Dealer who last serviced the car, West Hampstead, (no longer in operation), but have been taken over by Temple Fortune. I explained my simple request and was hit by 'we wont be able to discuss everything with you, because of "DATA PROTECTION" I repeated I only wanted abbreviations explained, so I could work out if any issues needed attention. They took my number and said they would get the engineer who last worked on my car to call me back. Have they called me back, have they F...!. Being an AMG, I would have quite liked to stay with Mercedes for servicing and I would have thought, having told them of my new purchase, they might quite like me as a customer. Is this a common experience? or have I just been unlucky!

With the car being 5-6 years old now the benefits of FMBSH are debatable compared to the cost. A good independent specialist will save you money and I'd imagine also be able to answer any questions you may have.

What is a "diagnosis assistance system printout", and where did you get it from? I'd have thought you should be rasing any queries on the content with whoever supplied it.

Did you buy the car from M-B?

Hi, I bought the car from an independant garage, the printout, I assume comes from the plug in diagnostic check M-B do when servicing the car.

Hi and welcome - where are you based?

very close to Heathrow Airport
