Cybertruck Owner Breaks Finger Trying To Show Car Is Safe

Neither did I, until I had it.

I’d never go back now, self-presenting/closing doors have also spoiled me… I’ll only be able to drive a MX or Rolls Royce at this rate. 🤦‍♂️ Actually I think Rolls don’t have self-presenting doors 🤔
That's me Rolls cancelled then. 😏

A colleague at work recently replaced his Model-X with a Model-3 and he keeps saying that the thing he misses most from the Model-X is the powered doors...... (the front ones).

Yes, once you have them, you can’t ‘not’ have them..

Oh yes you can! I've done it three times now, but it did take at least 5 secs to readjust to the new 'poverty' spec doors.
The thing I liked most, was not cringing when passengers slammed the self close doors...😁

Ah but you see, they don’t have the opportunity to close it themselves on mine. ;)

Yet again, another example of Tesla releasing products which are not fully tested / bugs removed.

Just like Apple products, the Tesla fan boys are happy to accept sub standard products.
How many safety related recalls have Mercedes had that required people to take time out of their day to visit a service location?

Why is it that Apple (and seemingly Tesla) seem to get people upset at the fact that others like the products? 😅

Far less than Tesla, and generally for things which are a result of months/years of use which are only made apparent when using the products.

Not somthing as simple as an accelerator pedal coming apart within 10miles, rusting after 1 week or the fact a trunk door will break a finger. - how on earth can you launch a product with such little product testing?

I have no problem with people liking other products, but the "church of Apple" / Musk is hillarious.

Didn’t see this then?

Yeah, never seen similar issues happen with other manufacturers. ;)

Man Sues Mercedes After Soft-Close Doors Chop Off His Thumb

The lawsuit also calls for Mercedes-Benz’s soft closing doors to use sensors in order to avoid future issues like this one. It also says the company shouldn’t be marketing this feature if protective sensors aren’t installed, as there aren’t any warnings about a possible danger.”

I find the hate towards both hilarious.

Yep saw that - cant find any updates after over 2 and a half years since it was raised, nor any other reports?

Did it go to court?

No idea. I found it from a quick google. I don’t own that model of car.

The point is it serves as a parallel where even ‘established’ car makers get things wrong on occasion. Why wouldn’t there have been some kind of sensor to detect an object such as a finger in the way of the door?

I don't think its hate.....just a bit odd that people are willing to pay over the odds for average or below par quality products......More with Tesla than Apple TBH.

People can do what they want with their money though. It’s the ‘outlandish’ design of the CT that got people hyped about it. You should see the premium prices they are fetching resale at the minute.

My point is, why would anyone pay for a product which clearly has been rushed and has had minimal (if any) product testing. Imagine if Mercedes produced a car in which its accellerator pedal literally fell apart, within miles of leaving the dealership, only for them to simply attach a rivet as a fix? - it wouldnt be acceptable at all.

The reason why they do? - simple, its Sheep/herd like mentality, wanting the latest or coolest item. most of us grow out of this when we leave school.

People go into a cult-follower like state with anything Apple or Tesla, its weird and alarming. like those people who stand quening at Midnight for a new iPhone, or defending Tesla products at all costs and denying everything which is reported.

Re the Mercedes door lawsuit, was this even a thing in the end? there are zero follow up articles and only 1 person in the entire world who has had this issue. - Not the 100s of owners who have reported the issues facing BRAND NEW Cybers.

Sure, this forum is full of recall notices, rusty subframes but non of these are a result of a lack of basic product testing, poor design maybe but we all know Mercedes have, like all marques many issues over the years.

Tesla is all smoke and mirrors.

or the fact that they can afford to buy it, so why not? It’s not your money so why do you care?

Chill out… ;)

How many people actually had their fingers injured though? Apart from a YouTuber who put his in there on purpose.

I’d imagine putting your finger in any automated trunk assembly would cause some level of injury before it stopped.

This was a non-issue blown out of proportion by the usual haters.

The fact that it made it to a UK Mercedes forum is insane. Especially considering the fact that the car probably won’t ever be sold in the UK. Just goes to show the reach that Tesla has I guess.

Does anyone actually still do this? I know it was popular back in the day, but nowadays you can get the new iPhone pretty easily online.

Just to put some closure to this, this has been resolved by an OTA software update… Obviously this is unlikely to be mentioned on here so thought worth pointing out.

The barstewards. Taking away YouTubers' livelihoods. What will they do now? Get a real job? Don't be ridiculous.
